Real Madrid ready to offer Gareth Bale a contract extension

Gareth Bale (R) is reportedly being offered a contract extension by Real Madrid

Real Madrid are reportedly ready to offer Gareth Bale a new contract to fend off interest from the Premier League and other European giants including Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich. The Welshman has enjoyed a fine run of form for the Los Blancos ever since returning from injury earlier this year.

His original contract runs out at 2019 but Florentino Perez is willing to further add two years to the contract given his scintillating form and team spirit. Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are all rumoured to be interested in signing the Welshman but he himself has often insisted that his future remains in Madrid.

Bale's reported salary is €9m-a-year after tax and the club are willing to increase it to match the level of some of the other big stars in the club including Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos. The Telegraph reported earlier that the 26-year-old, along with his agent. Jonathan Barnett, were ready to speak to the club about an extension.

Bale just surpassed Gary Lineker's record as the highest scoring British national in the Liga BBVA with his goal against Sevilla on the weekend. Not only did Bale get a goal, he also assisted Karim Benzema's goal with a pinpoint rocket of a cross into the box.

Ronaldo's future still unclear

And while Bale is settling into his career at Real Madrid, things are quite on Cristiano Ronaldo's future. The Portuguese legend hasn't agreed a deal with the Los Blancos just yet and given that he's having another incredible season at the club, its still unclear why he's not been given a contract.

At 31, Ronaldo is now headed into the last chapter of his playing career. While Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain have all expressed a desire to sign the mercurial forward, we're just going to have to wait to see how things pan out at Madrid.
