According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle United have reportedly agreed a £23 million transfer fee for ace Yohan Cabaye from French money bags PSG.

This comes soon after the Toons rejected a £14 million bid from PSG for the player, holding out for a higher price for their star performer. Having matched the valuation, PSG are on the verge of eventually capturing their long term target this winter.

Owner Mike Ashley is resigned to lose his talisman, who has scored 8 goals this season in the Premier League, and is largely responsible for the team’s position in the top half of the table.

The Frenchman has been on the cusp of departing the St James Park for some time now, with several high profile clubs bidding for the playmaker in the past.

Manager Alan Pardew dropped a slight hint of the imminent transfer in his conference, ahead of their derby against Sunderland.

He said, ‘The timing is very unfortunate. It was the same at the start of the season. The biggest concern for me is losing the player and the second biggest concern is that I have the derby on Saturday.’
