Stats: FC Barcelona and Juventus - The meanest defences in Europe

FC Barcelona and Juventus are Europe’s best defences

FC Barcelona and Juventus have started their new seasons on a high note as both the clubs have made a perfect start in the 2014/15 campaign.

Barcelona and Juventus have not lost a single game till now

Barcelona are sitting at second place in La Liga with four wins and one draw from a total of five matches. They have also won their first Champions League group stage match against Apoel.

On the other hand, Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus have started their title defence in an emphatic manner winning all their four games in Serie A and also against Malmo at home in the Champions League.

But the most flawless stat that both the teams share is on the defensive side of things. The two European giants have not conceded a single goal in the first month of this season and opponents have found them hard to breakdown.

Roma and Inter Milan have proved to be strong defensive units as well

Goalkeepers Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus) and Claudio Bravo (Barcelona) have kept clean sheets consecutively as their sides have been rock solid at the back.

Overall, in Europe’s six biggest leagues the Blaugranas and the Bianconeri lead the list of best defensive clubs followed by Italian giants Roma and Inter. FC Porto from Portugal conceded their first goal of the season last weekend as well as Bundesliga club Cologne in their fifth fixture of the new season.

In the English Premier League, Southampton have the best defence with three goals against from five matches.
