Zinedine Zidane says both Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale are not for sale

Cristiano Ronaldo (L) and Gareth Bale (R) are the two most expensive signings in football history

Real Madrid legend Zinedine Zidane has played down rumours linking Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale with transfer moves away from the club, as per reports on Marca. Zidane has insisted that both Bale and Ronaldo are influential figures in the Blancos’ squad and the club have no interest in selling two of the best players in the world.

At the moment, Ronaldo and Bale are two of the hottest prospects in football and it is no surprise that every transfer window both players are frequently linked with moves away from the club. Few months ago Paris Saint-Germain had challenged club president Florentino Perez to put a price tag on Ronaldo and had claimed they were ready to purchase the Portugal captain at any price.

However, Perez had ruled out the possibilities of selling the club’s biggest asset. Now, club legend Zidane has come forward to clear the doubts again and he has insisted that both Ronaldo and Bale will not be leaving the Spanish capital.

“No, he [Ronaldo] is not for sale, it wouldn't make sense,” the former France international said.

“Big players are what people want to read about, so that is why they are written about, but why would Real Madrid have any intention of selling the best player in the world?

“Cristiano Ronaldo has been the best player in the world for the past few years, and he knows he is the best. It doesn't mean that he doesn't work hard, or that he doesn't want to improve and get better, but he has that confidence where he knows how good he is.

“I was not the most prolific goalscorer, but I knew how good I was. I knew that I could read the game and see things one or two seconds quicker than everybody else.”

Bale is committed to Madrid: Zidane

Former Tottenham player Bale has endured a difficult start to his career at Santiago Bernabeu. The 26-year-old has been hampered with injuries and last season, he was given the stick by the supporters for his poor run of form. Bale’s mixed start to his career has generated speculation about his future with the Galacticos.

However, Zidane believes the Welshman will fight through this tough phase and remain at the Spanish capital for many years to come.

“Of course, clubs are going to want Gareth, he is one of the best in the world. But I am not sure how much clearer we can be,” he said.

“Gareth has made it clear, his agent has made it clear, we have made it clear, his future is at Real Madrid. We sign the best players in the world, we don't sell them.”
