Paris Saint-Germain have to pay €1 billion to sign Ronaldo, insists Florentino Perez

Florentino Perez has set his price tag of €1 billion for Cristiano Ronaldo

Real Madrid have sent clear signs of Ronaldo’s price tag to Paris Saint-Germain if they intend to sign the star man in the near future, according to ESPN. Although the Portuguese has been on a barren run recently and is yet to open his account for this season, PSG still remains interested in signing him.

Club President Florentino Perez has told the reigning Ligue 1 champions that they will have to break the bank and cough up €1 billion in order to lure the Portuguese striker to the French outfit. The three-time Ballon d’Or winner has been heavily targetted by the French outfit for the past couple of years and there has been speculation that they could possibly make a move for the forward next summer.

However, the club president Florentino Perez remains adamant in keeping his most prized asset at the Bernabeu for years to come and has downplayed Les Parisiens chance of signing Real Madrid’s goal machine unless they meet their asking price of €1 billion.

"If PSG want Ronaldo, it's easy: they have to pay the release clause: €1 billion," the Blancos supremo told Cadena COPE. "No-one is a prophet in football but we don't want to sell him in 2016. There are still three years left on his contract."

His misbehaviour has come back to haunt him, says Perez

Perez was also asked about the controversy surrounding Barcelona centre-back Gerard Pique, who has been jeered by the Spain fans during their Euro 2016 qualifier win against Slovakia. Los Blancos president suggested that the defender’s misbehaviour has come back to haunt him.

Meanwhile, Gerard Pique, who supports Catalan independence, hasn’t helped himself as he was also accused of expressing anti-Madrid sentiments. However, Perez has a lot of sympathy for his Spanish compatriot.

"Sometimes you make a mistake but it does not seem right that someone gets booed in the stadium and certainly not one wearing a Spain shirt,"

He further added, "I feel bad for him."

Real have picked up four points from their opening two matches and Bale along with James Rodriguez look to be in sublime form for the Los Blancos side. Cristiano Ronaldo, on the other hand, has had a dip in form at the start of their new campaign and he looks forward to ending his goal scoring drought in the next match against Espanyol.
