Rumour: Paris Saint-Germain ready to offer £109.2 million for Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo is currently the highest-paid football player in the world

French champions Paris Saint-Germain are preparing to pay a world record fee of £250 million to bring Cristiano Ronaldo to Parc des Princes next summer, as per the reports on Independent. The Portuguese forward has been a long-term target for PSG and reports has claimed that the club had a €120-million offer rejected for Ronaldo in the last transfer window.

Last week Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has quoted his star player’s price tag of €1 billion for the French outfit if they are ever looking to place a bid for the Portuguese international in the future.

The reigning French champions are serious about their pursuit for Cristiano Ronaldo and the reports claim that the move would include a world record fee of £109.2million (€150m) and wages that would keep him the highest paid footballer in the world.

The current Ballon d’Or holder was enquired about by PSG in the transfer window who offered £87.3m to lure him to Parc des Princes. However, the Spanish giants were adamant to keep hold of their club’s most valuable asset as they decided to reject the tempting offer.

The Qatari owners of PSG are ready to offer an improved term on Ronaldo’s current salary that is estimated to net him £15m after tax every year (£288,000-a-week). On the other hand, Ronaldo’s former club Manchester United are still keen on bringing back their club legend to Old Trafford and made inquiries of their own over the summer.

Manchester United a likely destination for Ronaldo

Next summer is set to be the key in deciding whether Ronaldo will remain a Real Madrid player and retire from his illustrious career as a legend at the Santiago Bernabeu. However, there is a prospect of returning to Old Trafford where he became a global star under Sir Alex Ferguson's guidance. Ronaldo could be tempted to lead the charge at United and inspire them to another Champions League title which he did back in 2008.

Any team would love to have the 30-year-old player in their team but only clubs with strong financial backings like PSG, Manchester City and Chelsea can afford to attain the services of the Portuguese forward.

Cristiano Ronaldo continues to compete and match the goal scoring rates with Lionel Messi who has been his counterpart for the past seven years. Their head to head comparisons are unbelievable as both the players continue to break records on the pitch and at the rate at which they are still continuing, it doesn’t seem like they are ready to stop anytime soon.
