During a recent discussion, UFC Hall-of-Famer Daniel Cormier and sports analyst Ryan Clark delved into a highly anticipated matchup between newly-crowned heavyweight champion Jon Jones and former champ Stipe Miocic, who is set to make his return to the octagon after a long hiatus.

Daniel Cormier, who is well-known for his extensive knowledge of the sport and his own success as a former heavyweight champion, detailed Stipe Miocic's impressive resume to explain why he believes the former champ will pose a tougher challenge for Jones than many expect.

Despite not having fought since March 2021, Miocic has a remarkable record of wins against some of the biggest names in the heavyweight division, including Francis Ngannou, Daniel Cormier himself, and Junior Dos Santos, to name a few. Cormier emphasizes that Miocic's experience and success in the octagon cannot be overlooked, and that he is undoubtedly one of the greatest heavyweights of all time.

The former two-division champion stated:

"I think it's going to be much tougher. I think it's going to be much tougher for Jon Jones. I believe that the Stipe's championship experiences will show itself in the fight. I believe that Stipe's fighting ability will show itself in the fight."

Cormier argues that the jump in weight class and the level of competition in the heavyweight division will present a significant challenge for Jones, and that Miocic's experience and skill set make him a formidable opponent.

Daniel Cormier, a former UFC heavyweight champion and now an MMA commentator, had a ringside view of Jon Jones' historic achievement at UFC 285, where he became a two-division champion by defeating Ciryl Gane to win the vacant heavyweight championship via submission.

In a YouTube video, 'DC' praised Jones for his performance, stating that he was impressed with the way 'Bones' took 'Bon Gamin' down and secured the submission. Cormier, who has had a storied rivalry with Jones in the past, acknowledged that it is difficult to deny Jones' greatness in the sport, given his impressive record and the way he has dominated the competition throughout his career.
