Muay Thai living legend Liam Harrison sure loves a war or two, but the Leeds slugger least expected it to unfold the way it did when he took on Muangthai PK Saenchai at ONE 156 in April 2022.
The 38-year-old always has his firepower locked and loaded, ready to punch his way to another knockout or slugfest, no matter what. But the PK Saenchai Muay Thai Gym athlete, 'Hitman' faced a game opponent, ready to stun him and work a path to the bantamweight Muay Thai crown.
'Elbow Zombie' sent the English striker to the canvas in quick succession, the first with a blitzing high kick and the second via a jab-cross that seemed to have put Harrison on his last legs.
Reflecting on that exact moment he was recovering from a second eight-count, Liam Harrison told Fight Energy Films:
"After that knockdowns, I was just having a word with myself. I was just saying, 'Get your sh*t together. I wasn't hurt, as when you saw when I got up, my legs weren't gone."
He added:
"I was just saying to myself, What the f**k are you doing? Get your sh*t together now because you're about to blow this, and there's a lot at stake here."
