5 reasons why Brock Lesnar is WWE's biggest asset

Lesnar hadn’t wrestled for almost eight months prior to this match

The Beast incarnateThis is often a debatable question. There is no one opinion. A lot of people would say that John Cena is WWE’s most valuable wrestler, others could say it’s Seth Rollins. One opinion is that it is Brock Lesnar, and that is what I will be talking about in this article. In my opinion, Brock Lesnar truly is WWE’s biggest draw, and I have five reasons to back it up.This is opinionised, so if you don’t agree, that’s alright. This is also only considering Lesnar under his new contract, not his full time one back during his first run.

#1 The rarity of his appearances

Lesnar hadn’t wrestled for almost eight months prior to this match

The first reason is one of the more obvious ones. Lesnar wrestles only a single digit number of times a year, and most times it is under five times. The finite number makes him a spectacle to watch every time he steps in the ring. There is a feeling of occasion with every one of his matches, and WWE makes use of this.

They capitalise on his rare appearances and make the most of them, advertising his matches months in advance sometimes. He often begins a feud and then disappears, and then returns and reignites it, bringing in a bigger flame than was already lit, which directly leads into the next entry.

#2 The stakes of all his matches

Small matches are not for Brock Lesnar

Everyone wrestles random matches every now and then, and in some cases, they wrestle only random and pointless matches. Not Brock Lesnar though. Ever since Lesnar returned in 2012, he hasn’t wrestled anything except for big, highly hyped pay-per-view matches.

When someone is treated that way, you know they are something special. And indeed, that is what Lesnar is. WWE hasn’t even been subtle about it. He’s been exploited as a beast and nothing other than that. Even as a babyface (somewhat), he hasn’t been known to show any mercy at all.

#3 His monstrous booking

WWE’s only true beast

Brock Lesnar has not been made to be like anybody else on the roster. He is the only one with a consistent manager, and sometimes it really seems like he needs to be tamed by Paul Heyman. He has never really displayed any human characteristics and has looked like a monster.

In his second run, he has lost only three times, and another by disqualification. And one of those three times, he wasn’t even pinned. The last time Brock Lesnar was pinned was at WrestleMania 29, over two years ago. And even then, after losing to Triple H, he redeemed himself at the very next pay-per-view.

When you book someone in a way that he is a freak of nature, then it’s guaranteed to draw fans in. Some fans may want to see him just destroy whoever he is facing, and another group of people might watch for something else.

#4 The suspense of seeing if his opponent has a chance

Roman Reigns was a formidable opponent

A part of the spectacle of Brock Lesnar is to see how long it will take for him to beat his opponent, that is, if he doesn’t kill them. In any case, whenever Lesnar steps into the ring now, it is assumed that he will dominate, and a lot of people tune in to see just how much of it will happen.

For example, last year at SummerSlam, John Cena basically had no offense, and that has lasted ever since. While watching the main event of WrestleMania, a lot of the hype was to see how far Roman Reigns could push Lesnar, and he probably put on the biggest fight that Lesnar has faced so far.

It’s strange that a reason for Lesnar being a draw is his opponent, but a lot of the time, that’s an influential factor.

#5 Paul Heyman

The man behind it all

Where does one begin with Paul Heyman?

Brock Lesnar’s manager is half the reason Brock Lesnar’s matches are looked forward to so much. He is an expert at selling them, and an expert at selling Brock Lesnar. Often Heyman’s magical promos can be used as music, because they are so gripping. There have often been jokes about how Raw should just be one long Paul Heyman promo, but to be honest, that would probably work.

It’s become a staple to hear Paul Heyman’s voice in association with Brock Lesnar, and rightly so. There would be no Brock Lesnar as he is today without Paul Heyman, and some would argue that he is an even bigger draw than Lesnar, which only adds more to Lesnar.
