5 players we would have loved to see in the All-Stars T20

Adam Gilchrist is one of the superstars who has missed out this edition of the All Stars T20

The All Stars T20 cricket tournament has put together the largest ensemble of legendary cricketers in cricketing history, an ensemble which includes as many as 29 great players who have retired in the past decade or so.Although the rosters of the two participating teams, Sachin's Blasters and Warne's Warriors, have most of the biggest stars from the 1990s and the 2000s, there are still some names which we would have loved to watch in the tournament. Here are 5 former greats who are not a part of the inaugral All Stars T20:

#1 Adam Gilchrist

Adam Gilchrist is one of the superstars who has missed out this edition of the All Stars T20

Australias swashbucklingformer wicket-keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist is a player who will be sorely missed at the All Stars T20. We all know how he made a career out of thrashing the living daylights out of the opposition bowlers. With his famed ability to hit the ball, Gilchrist could have paired up with Virender Sehwag to set the tournament on fire.

But unfortunately for us, he has not been able to make it to this edition of the All Stars T20. However, the good news is that this just the beginning of this exciting new venture initiated byTendulkar & Warne, and it may just be a matter of time before we see Gilly in action once again.

#2 Waqar Younis

We would have loved to see the Waqar-Wasim combo in action once again

One of the greatest Pakistani fast bowlers of all time, Waqar Younis,is also a face that we would have loved to watch at the All Stars. Younis is certainly one of the legends of fast bowling not only in his country but in the entire cricketing world, so people would love to see him gothrough the defences of batsmen yet again.

Moreover, the possibility of watching Pakistans Sultans of Swing, the Waqar-Wasim duobowling in tandem, is also something cricket fans all over the world would have been looking forward to at the time when this tournament was announced.

Although, to the disappointment of most, this dream did not transpire in this edition of the All Stars T20, we will hope that Younis joins the All Stars bandwagon soon enough.

#3 Anil Kumble

Anil Kumble could have added to the star power of the All Stars T20

Indias ace former leg spinner Anil Kumble would have been another great addition of the star-studded All Stars T20 roster. With Warne and Murali both playing, Kumbles inclusion would have completed the legendary trio of spinners who dominated world cricket for close to two decades.

Also, the Indian fan base in the US would have enjoyed witnessing the return to action for one of their biggest heroes of yesteryear. Kumbles guile with the ball in hand could have proved to be handy for the team he would have represented.

In the near future though, considering that the All Stars will be an ongoing affair, there may be a chance that we get to see our very own Jumbo doing what he does best.

#4 Andrew Flintoff

The big-hitting England all-rounder could have given the crowd some catches

We would certainly have enjoyed watching big Freddie hitting a few out of the park. One of Englands greatest all-rounders has a history of making big grounds look very very small and he would have thrived in the inaugural edition of the All Stars T20 tournament. His inclusion could have also increased the English headcount in the series which currently stands at a mere two.

Apart from his big hitting, it is also his exceptional skills with the ball in hand which would have made him a dangerous weapon for either Warne or Tendulkar. We will keep our fingers crossed for Flintoff to make it to future editions of the tournament.

#5 Rahul Dravid

Rahul Dravid, one of the Fab 5

Indias legendary batsman Rahul Dravid is also one big name which is missing from the All Stars roster. With Indians representing a major chunk of the spectators who will be flocking to the grounds for the entire series, Rahul Dravids presence would have added yet another feather in the All Stars cap.

The inclusion of Dravid in the tournament would have also meant that the Fab Five of Indian cricket would all be part of this excellent initiative. However, as for now, we will have to be content with only four out of them. But we are confident that it wont be too long before The Wall too joins the superstar-heavy T20 tournament.
