Valentine's day: Eight most heart-warming love stories of football

Zlatan

Going the captain obvious way; today is Valentine’s day. It is a day where people express their love and feelings to their beloved. Even though this writer believes that love is eternal and a single day to express it goes against the meaning of love.True love is like the soul, it is without attributes. It is like the fire within a piece of wood – it is not viewable unless another piece of wood is rubbed with it. Similarly, you can’t cut open a body to see if love exists in it – it is a feeling that arouses when souls are ‘rubbed.’Anyways, enough of explaining what love is. If continued, chances are that people will stop expressing love on Valentine’s day and do it on this writer’s birthday instead.Swimming with the tide, here are our top 7 Football couples:

#1 Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Helena Seger

Zlatan

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is famous for many things. Be it outrageous insults to journalists, or reminding a player of his obscure status or telling Pep Guardiola to “go f**k yourself,” – he has done some of the coolest things that most footballers can’t even think of.

But when it comes to Zlatan the husband, he is even cooler.

In 2002, a 21-year-old Ibrahimovic doubled parked his Ferrari beside Helena’s car. Helena was not in the best of moods and hissed at Zlatan. She did a Zlatan to Zlatan and that ignited the spark in the Footballer’s heart. The rest, as they say, is history.

Today, they are the proud parents of two sons and are going stronger than ever as a couple. They are one of the most stable couples in the game – where Footballers change their partner more frequently than clothes – and the love they share shows on their blooming faces when they are together

#2 Ricardo Kaka and Carol Celico

Kaka

One of the most adored couples in the game. Kaka and Carol shared their love since they were in their teens. Carol was 14 and Kaka was 16 when they first met.

So true was – and is – their love that they refused to sleep together before they got married. It was a love from the soul. Love is always the second name of patience. And these both represent that.

At the of 2014, there was a news that shocked the world – that Kaka and Caroline were splitting. However, a month later on December the 30th, Caroline uploaded a picture on Instagram that relieved a lot of fans: they were back together and also spent the Christmas together.

Love is stronger than any other force and their repairing is a testament to that.

#3 Lionel Messi and Antonella Rocuzzo

Messi

This is a love story that started very early.

Lionel Messi and Antonella Rocuzzo met each other when they were only 5 years old since their families were friends. Antonella is also Messi’s best friend’s cousin.

However, that was just a childhood meeting that sowed the seed for the future love tree.

During Christmas in 2009, they met once again and this time the seed was watered – they were in love. And now, they are happily married and have a son of their own. Messi always has been discreet about his personal life and will remain to be so, but the one thing he hasn’t been able to keep discreet is the strong bond this pair share.

#4 Xabi Alonso and Nagore Aranburu

Xabi

This is what you call a very, very classy couple.

This pair is like the pairing between Oreos and Milk. The way they represent themselves should be the way every couple should try to do so. They have been married since 2009 and remain one of the most complete pairs in the world of Football.

Be it their dressing style or talking, it is absolutely perfect – it helps that Nagore is a model and Xabi is one classy player. To top this off, they also have really adorable kids – three in total – that make them one of the best families in Football.

#5 Iker Casillas and Sara Carbonero

Iker Casillas

This love story that became really famous after the Spanish legend kissed his other half live in front of the whole world after Spain won the World Cup.

Controversies have been quite frequent with them, but they have remained strong. The first serious mention of this pair came when Spain lost against Switzerland and Carbonero – who is a journalist and was reporting from right behind Casillas – was blamed by the media for it.

Spain then went on to win the World Cup and this pair announced themselves to the world. Five years later, they have a child and their love seems to be on the rise as ever.

#6 Raul Gonzalez and Mamen Sanz

Raul Gonzalez and Mamen Sanz

Arguably the best and the most underrated husband-wife pair in the Football world.

Raul and Mamen are married since 1999. They have 4 sons and a daughter and keep their personal lives very discreet. It is for this reason that this pair is probably under the radar – but the stability is astonishing.

They have been together for 16 years now and Raul, to this date, celebrates his goals by kissing the ring finger in dedication to his wife. Almost every other pair in this list has been a subject to controversy at some point or the other – but they never have been.

They don’t let their love get out of the doors of their home.

#7 David and Victoria Beckham

David Beckham

The most popular Football husband-wife pair in the whole world.

Almost everyone knows David Beckham and almost everyone also knows his wife Victoria. They first met each other in 1996 and they knew that they shared some special – something that was going to last very long.

Victoria is a famous model and her husband was, once upon a time, the (handsome) face of Football. Despite being such a popular pairing, they haven’t let the media circus ruin their lives and share a very close bond and are still going very strong.

They have four children who, like their parents, are absolutely beautiful.

#8 Jose Mourinho and Matilde Faria

Mourinho

If there is one person on to whom Jose Mourinho will put more credit than himself, it is his wife Matilde Faria.

Married since 1989, they have actually been sharing their relationship since their teen-days. According to the Portuguese, Matilde is his biggest influence and that “she is the boss at home,” and when she dared him to get a tattoo, he did it as a birthday present.

Well, there can be arguments as to whether Jose Mourinho is really the Special One. However, there can’t be a single argument about the fact that Matilda is the special one for Jose. They have 2 kids and an inspiration for couples who desire to keep their relationship alive till their very breaths – or even beyond.

“For me, the perfect weekend is when I am at home with my family. This is rare and not normal so I like it.”
