The many faces of Kane - WWE's 'Big Red Machine'

Glen Thomas Jacobs, popularly known as Kane, made his in ring debut back in 1997 as the brother of The Deadman, The Undertaker.From entering the scene with Paul Bearer to becoming the Devils favourite demon and joining The Authority, Kane has constantly emerged back as the Big Red Machine of menace and destruction. Get ready for a ride through Hellfire and Brimstone, as we live through the carnage that is, Kane.

#1 The Scarred Brother (1997-2000)

Kanes first appearance stunned the world. During The Deadmans Hell in a Cell match against Shawn Micheals, just as The Undertaker look to hit the Tomb Stone Pile Driver to end it all, the lights went dim. Out walked a monster, seven feet tall, weighing over three hundred pounds, he walked along side The Undertakers old manager, The Father of Destruction, Paul Bearer.

After ripping the cage door off, Kane walked and stood face to face with a dumbstruck Undertaker and as fire burst out of he corners of the ring, the lights came back and The Deadman walked right into a Tomb Stone Pile Driver form his own half-brother, The Monster had risen.

#2 The Corporation Tales (1998)

After having interfered in The Undertaker and Stone Cold Steve Austins buried alive match, The Coproration decided to admit Kane into an Insane Asylym. To stay out of there, Kane joined the corporation and hence became linked with X-Pac and De-Generation X.

Having won the Tag Team titles twice with X-Pac, Kane settled in with The Corporation when X-Pac turned on him and Kane was kicked out of the alliance. X-Pac and Kane then went on to build a legendary fued that ended at Wrestlemania XVI, when Kane teamed with Rikishi to put X-Pac and Road Dogg down for the count.

#3 The Brother\'s of Destruction (2000-2001)

After returning from injury, Kane formed an alliance with his brother the Undertaker to take out the Corporation. In a mixed period of alliances and heels, Kane was able to emerge out as he won the Hardcore Championship as well as the Intercontinental Championship in a span of a year.

Kane and The Undertaker then went on to hold the WWF World Tag Team Champions and the WCW World Tag Team Champions. Diamond Dallas Page and Chris Kanyon were taken on by the Brothers of Destruction on their march to the double tag team titles.

#4 The Unmasking (2002-2004)

In 2002, Kane challenged Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship in Madison Square Garden. According to the stipulations of the match set by general manager Eric Bishoff, Kane had to unmask on the following episode of Raw. Kanes unmasking seemed to drive him insane, as he attacked his own partner of the time, Rob Van Dam and beat him at Summerslam.

In an interview, Kane set fire to Jim Ross and attacked Linda Mcmahon on the Raw stage. This fueled a strife between Kane and Shane Mcmahon which Kane won, beating Shane in a Last Man Standing at Unforgiven and in an Ambulance match at Survivor series.

#5 Voices in My Head (2005-2006)

May 19. The date that caused havoc in the World Wrestling industry. Kane snapped in a match alongside Big Show, obstinately blaming the effect to voices in his head and the date May 19. Henceforth, anyone mentioning the date May 19 would be the receipent of a brutal attack by Kane. In the following weeks Kane said that May 19 was the date he lost his mother and his adopted family in a fire.

An imposter Kane sprung up to disturb Kane further, wearing his old mask and attire, until Kane threw the Imposter out of the arena one night, retrieving his mask. The voices refused to subside and Kane lost his place on the Raw roster against Umaga, and was drafted out to Smackdown.

#6 Reunion of The Brothers of Destruction (2006-2007)

Once drafted to Smackdown, Kane rejoined forces with his brother to defeat Montel Vontavious Porter and Mr.Kennedy. The feud with MVP continued and led to an inferno match that Kane won by setting MVP’s back on fire, resulting in first degree burns. The Great Khali then sparked a feud with Kane by interfering in his matches against King Booker, but Kane could not defeat The Punjabi playboy come Wrestlemania XXIII.

Kane was to face Edge for the World heavyweight Championship, but Kane attacked Edge and the Championship became vacant. Batista and kane fouhg tfor the vacant championship but The Great Khali attacked Batista and the match ended in a no contest.

#7 ECW Rampage (2007-2008)

The shortest match in the history of sports entertainment is another record Kane holds under his belt. After being brought into the ECW Championship scene by CM Punk as a tag team partner, Kane earned his place in a battle Royal to decide who would face Champion Chavo Guerroro at Wrestlemania XXIV. Kane won this battle royal by eliminating Mark Henry, his old nemesis, and then set the stage for the ECW Championship match.

The night that followed was over before Jim Ross could spell out Barbeque Sauce. Kane’s music hit, but he appeared from behind the stage to scare the wits out of Chavo who walked staright into a Chokeslam. Kane then got drafted back to Raw, where he lost the ECW Title to Mark Henry in a Triple-Threat match also involving Big Show.

#8 The Devil\'s Favorite Champion (2008-2011)

At the First Money in The Bank pay-per-view, Kane was finally able to lay his hands on the contract that guarenteed him a World Heavyweight Championship oppurtunity anytime in the next twelve months, but Kane couldnt wait, as he cashed in the briefcase the same night, to defeat Rey Mysterio for the Championship who had just one it off Jack Swagger. Kane then was blamed for attacking his brother The Undertaker and a new fued sparked between the brothers for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Although The Undertaker came within a whiskers reach of completing his revenge, he was never able to do so as Kane always got help in the form of the ressurected Paul Bearer or The Nexus. Kane then rekindled his fued with Edge, but Edge was able to trick the Devils Favorite Demon by kidnapping Paul Bearer and playing Mind Games with Kane. Finally, Kane lost the title to edge in a Fatal Four Way Tables-Ladders and Chairs match involving Rey Mysterio and Alberto Del Rio as well.

#9 Hell No! No! No! (2011-2013)

Kane and Daniel Bryan started out as enemies in a feud over the WWE Championship that remained with CM Punk, but the two of them then came out to be Champions in the sense of the word. After overcoming their issues with each other, dysfunctional as though it may have been, they formed a tag team to challenge for the WWE Tag Team championships. They defeated Kofi Kingston and R-Truth in order to gain the Championships and were successful on defending them in many occasions.

Finally, after a period of 245 days of Kane and Daniel Bryan succumbed to their fued with the NXT outcomes, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. Their period of co-operation ended as they were longer able to function as the barely strung together unit they were anyway, and each separated off only to come face to face later.

#10 Director of Operations (2013-Present)

Kane was attacked by the Wyatt family on their debut on Raw, and Kane now was linked in a feud with Bray Wyatt, that finally led to an Inferno Match that Kane lost and was put out of action for a couple of months. On his return, Kane attacked the Wyatt family and The Miz on Hell in a Cell, and the next day pledged his allegiance by handing his mask over to Stephanie Mcmahon.

Kane then involved himself in The Authority’s fight against Daniel Brian, but was not able to put Bryan away for good. After Wrestlemania XXX, Stephanie Mcmahon brought back the Devil’s Favorite Demon and named him as The Number One Contender for Bryan’s WWE World Heavyweight Championship, but Kane was unable to put Bryan down for the count.
