5 Reasons why John Cena's heel turn would be "Best for Business"

There has been a lot of debate going around wrestling fans on whether John Cena should align with the dark forces and turn heel. He has been a baby face for more than a decade now; but as time passed, he has turned into one of the most polarizing superstars in the roster.Cena’s face has been there on everything from pay-per-view posters to milk cartons and he is without much argument, the real face of WWE at the moment. And turning such a superstar heel is making WWE think twice about pulling it off which has left the fans in frustration.Despite all the hesitations and doubts of the WWE, turning Cena would be a ‘best for business’ move and here are the reasons why.

#5 Eliminating the 50-50 response

While half of the arena would be chanting ‘Let’s go Cena’, the other half would be screaming their hearts out saying ‘Cena sucks’.

It is a big problem that the WWE has been facing for a long time. Their fan base is visibly split into Cena lovers and Cena haters and if the company wants to unite them, the best way would be to turn Cena heel.

The fans currently loyal to the Cenation leader would feel betrayed when he finally turns heel, which in turn aids the run that he will have as a bad guy.

Taking away the 50-50 reaction from the crowd would be a big achievement for the creative team and they have no other option to erase it rather than a heel turn from the 15 time world champion.

#4 History said so

Heel turns, if pulled off right would end up giving the WWE a lot of main stream attention. And if it is someone like John Cena who have been a lifelong face, then the effect would be paramount.

Most of the common fans outside the wrestling community see Cena as the good guy in wrestling. They are not aware of the bookings he get or how other are buried as they only see the surface of the WWE.

When a guy projected as that suddenly becomes a bad guy, it is sure to get the attention of everyone. Hulk Hogan’s heel turn back in WCW is the biggest example of how effective a heel turn could be as the fans were throwing everything they had into the ring seeing Hogan turn heel.

Cena can easily evoke a similar situation in the modern era and steer WWE into a period that the fans would love to see.

#3 Fresh grounds for Cena

All these years, Cena has done the following things: win the WWE championship, get on a feud with Randy Orton, win the WWE championship, ruin some young talent, win the WWE championship, get on a feud with Randy Orton, and win the WWE championship – the same things over and over again.

As long as Cena sticks to his baby face alignment, he can’t do anything other than all the above mentioned things. However, if he turns heel, Cena will have many more fresh grounds to explore. He could run different storylines with an entirely different array of superstars.

It would be a much needed relief from his regular repetitive booking that Cena has been getting for nearly ten years now.

#2 Heel Cena gives rise to new stars

When you are on the top of the professional wrestling business, one thing that you could do is put over some young talent. So far, Cena hasn’t been able to do the same due to his face alignment and WWE’s rigid blind faith that good should always overcome evil.

No matter how brilliant his opponent is, Cena ended up winning the feud as a whole but this won’t be the case if he was a heel. Cena would be eligible to lose an entire feud if he is a heel and this means that he will also be able to put over some of the younger talents like Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose.

Reigns or Ambrose getting a big win over a heel like Cena would be a wonderful addition to their respective resume and would let them take over the throne left behind by the Cenation leader.

#1 Cenas chance to prove everyone wrong

Even though he is the biggest name in professional wrestling today, Cena hasn’t been a critical success. No one compares him with the likes of Daniel Bryan due to the lack of wrestling ability and no one compares him with Stone Cold Steve Austin due to the lack of versatility.

The former tag would be hard to change but Cena could prove his versatility if given a good heel run. The current fans see Cena as a one-dimensional character that is only capable of doing the ‘Hustle Loyalty Respect’ gimmick over and over.

Cena hasn’t had the opportunity to prove otherwise, but a heel turn would be his stage to show what he can do.

If he doesn’t want to go down in history as someone who failed to get out of his comfort zone, Cena has to turn heel and that would be best for business.
