Summerslam Calling?

It’s been quite a newsworthy week for the WWE.Battleground happened to be one PPV that the WWE built up like it was one of the ‘Big 4’ PPVs. We thought the reason may have been Lesnar’s match with Rollins but it was so, so much more than that.It has set up the road to Summerslam pretty well. Business was slow before battleground but it surely has picked up after it.But nobody could have foreseen the controversy that was about to arrive and sensationally takeover. It was sure well unprecedented. Here are the WWE’s top social media moments this week-

#5 Finish what you start, kid

Summerslam Calling?

Ever since Cody Rhodes returned, fans were questioning why hes still a heel. But after his touching eulogy to his father, the late great Dusty Rhodes, where he told the young Rhodes to finish what he starts, Stardust continued his journey.

His new feud with Neville had all the makings of a typical no frills, no flair lower mid card feud until we realized the different roles. Neville is a high flyer, more like a superhero. Stardust is a supervillain.

This feud has worked, surprisingly, so far.

Also, Stephen Amell is slowly but surely building an angle with the WWE.

#4 The Deadman Rises

He has risen!

The Undertaker returned and behaved much like a heel. He made lesnar react in a way that nobody’s been able to since he returned to the WWE in 2012. Then on Raw he explained why. He completely ignored his Wrestlemania return and called his return at Battleground his real resurrection.

The Deadman legend is far from being dead. It looks like in the coming weeks he will align with The Authority is some way or the other and may as well bring what happened to Kane in the meanwhile.

But Taker is surely not a babyface.

His return had social media buzzing and this topic was trending for three days straight.

#3 Emergency Landing

Not Entertained.

So, Sheamus was in the news recently but it wasnt because he created a controversy or because he had something majorly pathbreaking happening in the realm of WWE. He was recently on a flight and that particular flight had to have an emergency landing. That got a few media outlets and the socila media buzzing.

Sheamus just responded with a tweet that showed him wearing an oxygen mask in full selfie mode, basically signalling that he was as calm as ever.

Though, he did mention- Not many brave lads when the masks drop from overhead.

#2 The Storm

Controversy follows him again

Hulk Hogan was fired in the most swift, abrupt way possible. This comes in the list of eyebrow raising releases ever. The company and Hogan have not been strangers to fallouts. Hogan’s been quite a controversial figure.

Hogan’s taped comments from 8 years ago have him using the n-word several times. This led to WWE immediately firing him and distancing themselves from any ounce of Hogan’s presence anywhere in their domains. This definitely works against their campaign against racism.

Major media outlets have took this piece of news on. This has been the biggest story to come out of the WWE inspite of the Undertaker making a spectacular return just a few days earlier.

#1 The Reactions

This controversy may follow him forever

CM Punk, who’s long been gone from the WWE and chooses to follow as less news about it as possible, commented on this incident. He’s been vocal about how he doesn’t like Hogan. Punk was “Waiting patiently for a Hogan/Cosby meme to further shatter all our memories and innocence from the 80's”.

Big E was succinct in his reaction when he tweeted, “Appropriate a culture, pilfer from its dialect, profit wildly from it, and regard its people as subhuman. Makes sense...”.

Mick Foley supported the belief that Hogan is not that kind of person anymore.

Jim Ross thought this will follow him forever and all of this was rather sad and unfortunate.

What has also got some attention is a backstage segment involving Vince McMahon, John Cena, Booker T and Sharmell which has the Chairman using the N-word.
