5 WWE Superstars Who Hated John Cena

John Cena being a hated figure among the WWE Universe is no secret. Every time he comes down the ramp, the fans make their emotions loud and clear for the entire world to see. It is however an entirely different scenario when it comes to the WWE superstars.Knowing which wrestlers likes and dislikes the other is always a great piece of knowledge and if it involves a polarising figure like John Cena, then matters are even more interesting. So here is a look at those names in the wrestling business that had a real life friction with the Cenation leader at some point or the other down the time line.

#6 Honorable Mention: Ken Anderson

Ken Anderson failed to make it in the WWE despite being highly rated and he still points the figure at Cena for this. According to Anderson, Cena spread rumors in the backstage that it was hard to work with Anderson and this eventually derailed his career in the WWE.

#5 The Rock

Rock and John Cena are two of the most decorated names in the wrestling business and went they were pitted up against eachother back in 2011, the fans knew that they had something special. The superstars went on to have two back to back WrestleMania main events and though the matchups weren’t any technical masterpieces, the buildups proved to be must watch television.

Rock and Cena pulled off some great promos every now and then and sometimes, it went too far. Crossing the limits however was not part of kayfabe but instead was the real life friction between the two superstars. Just like most of the other superstars in the roster, Cena was not happy with Rock getting the limelight despite not being around for so long. This attitude made Rock reciprocate the emotion and he started taking shots at Cena as well.

Despite their real life friction, since both superstars were professionals, they made sure that it didn’t affect their match and later patched up.

#4 Mickie James

The fall that Mickie James suffered during her stay in the WWE is nothing less than monumental. She was one of the biggest divas in the roster back then and from there, she just ended up being an ex-employee in no time. The reason for this is believed to be John Cena.

Mickie James was dating Kenny Dykstra in the late 2000s and Kenny went on to claim that Mickie cheated on him with John Cena. This outburst dismantled Kenny’s career in the WWE and soon enough, it started effecting Mickie as well.

Later, Cena tied the knot with his high school love interest in 2009. Since WWE needed to take Mickie out of the picture and save Cena’s image, they started putting her in ridiculous angles like the Piggy James one. Mickie then left the company and tried her hand in TNA afterwards.

#3 Chavo Guerrero

Chavo Guerrero has been critical of the WWE ever since he left the company in 2011. And John Cena turned out to be the recipient of Chavo’s worst shots. Chavo ranted on his official Twitter account about how Cena is over rated and felt that it is a joke to compare Cena with the likes of Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior.

Following his twitter rant, Chavo went on to say similar things in many interviews and held on to his opinions no matter what. Chavo is currently spending his time in Lucha Underground and is showing no signs of making a return to WWE, probably because of his beef with Cena.

#2 CM Punk

One of the reasons why fans love CM Punk is because of his openness. During his run in the company, Punk said out things that a majority of the fans felt and this list of things he said included the never ending push of John Cena.

Although many people out there claim that Punk’s infamous pipe bomb was scripted, one cannot simply conclude that it didn’t have traces of real life frustration. Apart from this, Punk has expressed his views about how the people who actually know how to ‘wrestle’ being held back in the WWE.

Playing second fiddle to Cena was not an easy task for the straight edge superstars and this is probably the reason for the friction that exists between Cena and Punk.

#1 Bad News Barrett

Nexus was probably the best storyline concept that WWE put together in the PG era. Almost all the superstars involved in the stable expected their careers to be shot into the skies after the angle and they had all the rights to keep their hopes high. Barrett in particular showed a lot of potential but all this came crashing down due to John Cena.

According to Chris Jericho and Edge, Barrett was supposed to go over Cena at the 2010 SummerSlam but Cena refused to do so. He instead went onto single handedly defeat the Nexus and buried the faction once and for all.

Barrett later came out and said that he doesn’t like John Cena but at the same time he added that he respects the Cenation leader for being a big draw.
