WWE Battleground 2015: Full match card and predictions

R-Truth vs. King Barrett

WWE Battleground this year is stacked wih some interesting matchesThe stock of Battleground touched the skies after this week’s Monday Night Raw. WWE’s weekly flagship show attracted paramount attention in the right way and set up Battleground perfectly. Despite this positive outing, WWE suffered a big blow when Ryback was ruled out of the pay-per-view. His Intercontinental title reign is in jeopardy right now and WWE needs to make a decision on the same. Now that the Intercontinental title match is cancelled, there are six matches left in the Battleground match card. WWE is likely to make additions on Sunday. Divas might get a place along with Cesaro and Rusev. But before that, here is a look at the complete match card and predictions for the 2015 Battleground.

#6 R-Truth vs. King Barrett

R-Truth vs. King Barrett

This is not a random booking. R-Truth and Barrett have a storyline back up and no matter how ridiculous it is; they have a story. The two men will be fighting for Barrett’s King of the Ring crown. The stipulation makes the match a bit interesting, but that’s about it. There is nothing more to attract the fans into this match.

These two men have locked horns many times over the past few weeks and most of them have been comedy affairs. Battleground will be no different. Frankly, the result could go either way. But Barrett has the upper hand here since WWE will be looking to project him strongly ahead of SummerSlam.

Prediction: King Barrett Wins

#5 Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt

Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt

WWE has done everything in their power to project this as a major feud. The fans, however, are not interested. Bray’s character has lost credibility and Reigns seems desperate to go over. The match is destined to be a great one and WWE will leave the feud open for a match at SummerSlam. But then again, the bookers will have to come up with something extraordinary to make the fans happy.

Including the daughter of Roman Reigns into the mix might work as it takes the feud to another level. Neither of the superstars will get a clean win. It would either end in a no contest or a disqualification win for Roman Reigns. Bray is going to look vicious on both cases.

Prediction: Roman Reigns

#4 Randy Orton vs. Sheamus

Randy Orton vs. Sheamus

This match is going to be physical. The WWE Commentators have been plugging the last sentence ever since the match was announced. And make no mistake about it, they are right. Orton and Sheamus will put their body through some great punishment. There is no complexity in the story and it is going to be an all-out war between two warriors.

The real question here is: Who will win?

Orton desperately needs a win and so does Sheamus. But if WWE wants to push this feud to SummerSlam, they need to let Orton get a cheap win. It could be a disqualification ending so that Orton could challenge Sheamus for the briefcase next month.

Prediction: Orton wins

#3 Prime Time Players vs. New Day (Tag Team Championship)

Prime Time Players vs. Kofi Kingston

The Tag Team division has lost its momentum. It slowed down considerably during the reign of Prime Time Players, but the fans are getting to see excellent matches. This bout at Battleground will be no different. It would be exciting to see Prime Time Players fend off the challenge posed by New Day.

The chances of the titles changing hands at Battleground are low. WWE would want to keep Prime Time Players as champions ahead of SummerSlam so that they could have a Prime Time Players vs. Wyatt Family bout. As for New Day, they will continue to be a major part of the Tag team division, but the titles will not be around their waist at Battleground.

Prediction: Prime Time Players Win

#2 John Cena vs. Kevin Owens (United States Championship)

John Cena vs. Kevin Owens

This will probably go down as the most entertaining match from Battleground. Kevin Owens was overshadowed by the inclusion of Cesaro and Rusev into the feud and he would be eager to make a statement at Battleground. These two know how to keep the fans rooted to the seats. With SummerSlam around the corner, we should not expect a clean finish for this match.

Both Rusev and Cesaro have some unfinished business with the United States Championship. They could interference during the match and set up a fatal four way for the title at SummerSlam. In short, John Cena will retain the championship at Battleground.

Prediction: John Cena retains.

#1 Seth Rollins (c) vs Brock Lesnar (WWE Championship)

Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar

Seth Rollins will get a free visit to Suplex city. With no one to his rescue on Sunday Night, Rollins is destined to get destroyed by Brock Lesnar. Even if he gets destroyed, Rollins might not lose his championship. Rollins has been a solid heel so far during his title reign and WWE wouldn’t make the title change happen at a pay-per-view like Battleground.

Lesnar might win via disqualification or Rollins might get a tainted finish. Neither of the superstars is walking home with a clean win as it would violate a lot of future storylines. There are rumours of Undertaker making a surprise return at Battleground, so we never know what will happen.

Prediction: Seth Rollins retains
