WWE RAW- 3 things that WWE did wrong

It was a sold out show and obviously so. This was the go home show for Wrestlemania. Not just any PPV but Wrestlemania- the grandest of them all and as LL Cool J put it in the promostional advertisement- Wrestlemania needs no definition, it just is. That way WWE did have a few hits with the Sting and Stephanie segment, the Divas match, the Bray Wyatt promo etcetera but it won’t be the main roster, if it did not have its very own disappointments. It obviously did. Here are the three things from this weeks go-home show that absolutely did not work -

#1 Tug of War?

I get it, it will be a battle of strength and resilience come Sunday between two powerhouses like Lesnar and Reigns. And this is an image we see many times but in a more civilized manner in formal occassions. It’s also okay to not have Roman Reigns speak after Paul Heyman spelt out another great promo about his client and it never gets old- the way he utters his clients name.

But, it was still quite underwhelming. It wasn’t a lasting visual at all. Reigns made his way to the ring to a chorus of boos, which overpowered any cheers in the arena.

It was a mellow, mellow ending to Raw.

Also, just by the way, we all know Lesnar is going to get speared through a barricade.

#2 The build up to the Battle Royal

Mizdow has some overwhelming support from the crowd and Miz is still a great heel but the way WWE has chosen to build towards the Andre the Giant battle Royal is quite underwhelming compared to what it did for its inaugral edition. Agreed that even if Cesaro won last year in a glorious moment, he still ended up being back to where he was before the high momentum and that gives WWE enough reason to not get the audience very hopeful about this years edition. But is that fair to a match that will be on the PPV for a substantial amount of time?

#3 The Tag Team Scene

Pfft, what a travesty! The tag team scene is in a turmoil. Seriously.

The Brass Ring Club which has a hardcore fan favorite like Cesaro, who Vince McMahon thinks does not have charisma, is getting no favors from Creative. Seriously, WWE is not working on how to use Cesaro and Tyson Kidd. Their stint as tag team champions has been the most forgetful of the year so far and that is ahead of Bad News Barrett’s losing reign as IC champion.
