WWE Top 5 rumors of the week and analysis: 7 February, 2016

The next top babyface

Taker’s opponent could change for WMWWE’s habit of having rollercoaster quality for their weekly shows continued, this time, they took a big dip. The picture for Fast Lane came out looking good from one angle while the poorly executed storylines reduced its brightness. While all these happened on one dimension of the business, the other dimension, as usual, was speculation about the future of WWE. There were rumors about WrestleMania, Shinsuke Namakura, the divas division and a potential blockbuster match. As usual, we are going to take a look at them with our top 5 WWE rumors of the week and analyze them

#5 Plan for Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch

The next top babyface

WWE recently broke up Team BAD and exposed a budding friendship between Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch.

This pairing has some hidden agendas and it could last only for a short while. WWE wants to push Sasha Banks as the top babyface in the divas division and her pairing with Becky is just WWE’s idea of creating more of a supportive fan base for Sasha.

They believe that the main roster fans like Becky and wants such fans to like Sasha as well. The current plan is to have a triple threat for the Divas Championship between Charlotte, Becky and Sasha at WrestleMania.

#4 Reason for Brie Bella in the title picture

WWE going to use Nikki’s injury to push Brie

The WWE Universe was heavily surprised by the inclusion of Brie Bella into the Divas Title picture; the reason for the same being Total divas. WWE thinks that Nikki Bella is attracting big time sympathy due to her neck surgery.

They want to make use of the same by making Brie compete for the title at Fast Lane. This would then turn into a storyline in Total Divas where Nikki’s neck surgery is supposed to be a big plot point.

Brie’s pursuit of the title, however, is destined to end at Fast Lane as WWE has no plans for her when it comes to WrestleMania.

#3 NXT call ups

Next in line

The next NXT special will apparently be the last match of Sami Zayn in the developmental brand.

The former El Generico is all set to get called up to the main roster but it is yet to be known whether he would have a role to play in WrestleMania or not. Sami recently returned from injury and was part of the Royal Rumble match and made a solid impression overall.

Elsewhere, Finn Balor or Samoa Joe could also be making a jump soon to the main roster. The winner of their match at Takeover is likely to stay in NXT for a longer time while the loser will get the call-up.

#2 Rumors on Shinsuke Nakamura

New name

Shinsuke Nakamura has been in the news recently after his official announcement about leaving New Japan Pro Wrestling.

He is apparently going to be in the states this week and will be at the WWE performance centre for the time being. However, he would be returning to Japan soon before he would make a full-time jump into the mix.

While he is at it, WWE is planning to have a new name for him. They did the same with Kenta when he came in and we could expect a similar name for Nakamura. Nakamura will clearly start off his WWE career at NXT, but with the brilliance he possesses, he might get called up in no time.

#1 Big match for WrestleMania 32

Yes for Cena

The current WrestleMania main event that WWE is looking for includes a Championship match between Roman Reigns and Triple H.

However, this could change if John Cena makes his return ahead of schedule. WWE is willing to pair Cena and Undertaker in a program for WrestleMania if the Cenation leader makes his return fast.

Now, such a match would also eliminate the idiotic move of booking Braun Strowman against Undertaker at the grand stage of them all. A Taker vs. Cena showdown would simply be epic but then again, it depends on how fast Cena recovers.

Also, this is just a talk within the circle that Vince McMahon is hell bound on booking Strowman against Taker.
