4 Challengers for Becky Lynch's title at WWE Backlash: A bitter rival, former Champion & more

The Man is the new Women
The Man is the new Women's World Champion!

Becky Lynch was unable to win the Women's World Championship at WrestleMania 40. The Man rectified that, however, by winning the title in a Battle Royal on RAW.

After Rhea Ripley was forced to vacate the title due to an injury caused by Liv Morgan, Lynch became one of the favorites to be the new Champion. She was joined by Liv Morgan, Nia Jax, and a potentially returning Alexa Bliss.

Bliss did not return, but Morgan and Jax were among the final combatants in the Battle Royal. With WWE Backlash on the horizon, the next four stars could challenge her for her title in France.

Tiffany Stratton would make sense, but she is headed for a triple threat showdown with Naomi and Bayley.

#4. Lyra Valkyria may move to the main roster

Lyra Valkyria dropped the NXT Women's title to Roxanne Perez at Stand & Deliver. She'll have one more chance to win it back at Spring Breakin'. Since Perez just won the title, Lyra regaining it is unlikely.

With the Draft this week, Valkyria is a strong candidate to be selected by RAW or SmackDown. She beat Becky Lynch for the NXT Women's title last October. That history could be played upon in The Man's first title defense at WWE Backlash.

The pairing wouldn't be random and guarantee two European stars competing in a title match in France.

#3. Nia Jax and Becky Lynch are forever rivals

Nia Jax, Liv Morgan, and Becky Lynch have circled each other for months.

Nia Jax and Lynch have traded wins and losses over the last six months. The Man has the upper hand, however, beating Jax in a Last Woman Standing match before WrestleMania 40.

Despite that, The Irresistible Force has continually targeted whoever held the Women's World Championship. She faced Rhea Ripley at the Elimination Chamber event and was a favorite to win the Battle Royal on RAW.

With one of her main rivals winning the vacant title, Jax will likely go on a rampage during the Draft editions of SmackDown and RAW.

#2. IYO SKY could switch brands in the WWE Draft

The Genius of the Sky needs a new direction after losing at WrestleMania 40.
The Genius of the Sky needs a new direction after losing at WrestleMania 40.

Becky Lynch crossed paths with Damage CTRL as IYO SKY and Dakota Kai debuted at SummerSlam in 2022. The group tormented Lynch and Bianca Belair for the next two years, culminating in a WarGames match last November.

Since SKY lost the WWE Women's title to Bayley at WrestleMania 40, she's free to switch brands in the Draft. This would give the talented star direction after she lost her belt to The Role Model.

The showdown would be better for a bigger Premium Live Event, but things may be rushed with WWE Backlash less than two weeks away. Moving to the brand to pursue Becky Lynch instead of Bayley would also be a fresh singles matchup.

#1. The Liv Morgan Revenge Tour continues

Liv Morgan has been the runner-up in the last two Royal Rumbles. She was also the final person eliminated by Becky Lynch in this year's Elimination Chamber match.

The former SmackDown Women's Champ finds herself as the runner-up once again after The Man eliminated her to become the new Women's World Champion. Morgan was still going after Ripley when Mami was injured, and she'll likely extend her revenge tour to include Lynch as well.

Morgan was one of the favorites to win the Battle Royal due to the built-in angle with Ripley. Lynch has been at odds with Morgan a few times over the last few months, so the feud won't need much of a buildup.
