5 finishers Seth Rollins can adopt in WWE

Seth Rollins will have to bring in a new finisher if he has plans to strike out on his own

For weeks, the WWE fans have been clamoring for Seth’s return, often chanting “We want Rollins” during matches. Seth finally made his long awaited return during the Extreme Rules Pay Per View, and immediately made his intentions clear. Seth wants what he never lost in the first place – the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Seth also executed the Pedigree on Roman Reigns – a finisher Seth will probably use for the foreseeable future.

However, it made sense for Seth to use the Pedigree when he was in cahoots with The Authority. Seth was the chosen one, and it also seemed like Triple H was passing on the torch to a younger, hungrier Rollins. However, as it was made clear by Stephanie, Rollins and Stephanie/Triple H no longer have that “personal” relationship for Rollins to pay homage to Triple H.

Considering WWE’s ban on the Curb Stomp, today, we take a look at five alternate finishers Seth can adopt in the company.

#5. Avada Kedavra

WWE has come down hard on moves that could cause damage to an opponent. With the recent history of superstars who’ve suffered concussions and/or head trauma, it does appear to be a step in the right direction. It was the same reason why WWE banned the punt kick, which again is completely understandable. However, one move that has been used in WWE for more than the past two decades has been the Shining Wizard/Superkick.

Seth Rollins, being the incredible athlete that he is can pull many tricks out of the bag. Seth’s precision and execution of maneuvers have made him one of the safest workers in WWE (Sting’s case was different, as unfortunately it was a tragedy waiting to happen). Seth, during his time in FCW used the Avada Kedavra – a thrust kick while the opponent is on his knees. It proved to be an effective finisher, and would also minimize the risk of either superstar getting injured.

#4. Baishuku knee smash

One of the easiest and most effective finishing moves would bode well for Seth, considering he needs to pull it out of nowhere to get the gasps from the fans. Also, with Seth’s recent injury, you might see him refraining himself from going for high risk maneuvers. Keeping that in perspective, one of the most effective and sensible finishers he could go for is the Baishuku running knee, which was made famous in WWE by Daniel Bryan.

It is one thing to take a finisher from a semi – retired superstar, but with Daniel Bryan retiring from WWE, it makes all the sense in the world for Seth to add the finisher to his arsenal. Seth, much like Bryan is one of the most respected wrestlers in the business today, and using the running knee fits well with his fast paced offensive style.

#3. Paroxysm

Dropping a superstar on his head, which could result in an injury is immediately red flagged in WWE. Most of Seth’s finishers or signature moves in the company have nothing to do with power moves, but Seth can add the Paroxysm as his go to finisher. The name itself means a burst of activity, which is exactly what makes it a credible finisher. Seth is also not new to using the maneuver, as he started using it in WWE before being called up to the main roster.

The one logical hindrance would be to figure out how Seth can use it on a super heavyweight, instead of your normal 240 – pounders in the company. The execution involves a reverse suplex lift, followed by a mid – air spin and finally planting the superstar on his back, similar to a reverse DDT. Seth can use it as his finisher on the heavyweights, and go back to either Avada Kedavra or the running knee on the super heavyweights.

#2. God’s Last Gift

For starters, this move might not get approved by the management mostly because of how legitimate it looks. WWE has banned Pile Drivers, or any other move which involves dropping someone on their head a long time ago. However, Rollins is as good a worker as you can get, and used the finisher effectively during his independent days. The name itself sounds impressive, and for anyone who has seen Seth pulling it off, it would come off as more than just a credible finisher.

God’s Last Gift is a small package driver, which involves Seth lifting his opponent up with the Fisherman suplex hold, followed by a small package brain buster. The finisher looks absolutely devastating, while being relatively safer than most other power moves in the company. While there is a small possibility of someone getting dropped on their head, Seth has used it effectively on the independents, making it yet another alternative for a finisher.

#1. Phoenix Splash

One of the most impressive high risk moves in Seth’s arsenal is the Phoenix Splash – a corkscrew 450 splash made famous by the legendary Hayabusa. Rollins, being a great athlete can get impressive height and distance, and can use it on anyone, irrespective of their size. Rollins’ impeccable timing and precision makes it one of the most incredible, breathtaking moves in the business today.

Seth is an incredible athlete, and his agility is his strongest asset. All high flying moves have their own risks, but Seth has used the Phoenix Splash to great effect in the past. The finisher is sure to captivate the WWE fans, similar to Neville’s Red Arrow. A finisher needs to leave the audience in awe, and Seth Rollins can achieve that by incorporating the Phoenix Splash in his list of signature moves, or as a finisher.
