John Cena is back in WWE after a long hiatus of around 10 months, and is once again looking for opportunities to make it to the WrestleMania card. WrestleMania is the biggest event in the professional wrestling industry, and WrestleMania season is once again upon us.

Cena declared himself as an entrant for the Royal Rumble match-up this week on RAW. His entry took the total number of confirmed participants to 14, with several top superstars and former champions in the mix.

With Daniel Bryan and Brock Lesnar as the current champions of their respective brands, it is very difficult to predict who will win the Rumble to challenge either of them.

Many names like Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, etc, are being mentioned, but it's still impossible to predict who will win the Rumble.

We look at five plausible reasons why John Cena should be the one winning the coveted match-up.

#5 Ratings plummeting

Cena needs to fix the mess Corbin made

WWE hit the lowest of lows last month, when the ratings took a massive hit during the build-up to TLC. The promotion of Baron Corbin to the General Manager-elect role was one of the most terrible decisions ever made, which resulted in significant decline in viewership.

WWE made several changes in recent weeks, with The McMahon family running things once again, and the start of a "new era" was promised. Fresh match-ups were made, and new faces were brought up, but the ratings haven't spiked drastically.

WWE is in real need of a main-event superstar ever since Roman Reigns took a leave of absence due to his leukemia diagnosis. John Cena stayed on top of WWE for almost a decade, and could bring the ratings with him, if he returns full-time.

#4 Hollywood Mania

John Cena was already a household name during his full-time WWE career, with his "You Can't See Me" gimmick gaining significant mainstream attention. However, in the past year, Cena has gone complete Hollywood.

Cena has starred alongside the likes of Jackie Chan, Hailee Steinfeld, etc, major personalities in the Hollywood film industry. Cena's popularity has increased due to his appearances on prime time talk shows like Ellen and Jimmy Fallon, which bodes well for WWE.

WWE could use the newly gained popularity of Cena to sell out shows and make WrestleMania a bigger deal for the casual audiences.

Casual audiences are not overly aware of superstars like Seth Rollins and AJ Styles. Mainstream superstars like Randy Orton, Brock Lesnar, and John Cena are the only way to sell shows for WWE at the moment.

#3 A perfect story

Cena was emasculated by Brock Lesnar

John Cena could win the Rumble and go on to face either Brock Lesnar or Daniel Bryan. Brock Lesnar made his return to WWE and won his first championship in 2014, defeating John Cena in a way no one had ever seen before.

Daniel Bryan remains one of the superstars whom John Cena has never defeated in his career, and he has history with Cena.

Cena could face either of the two champions, and a perfect story could be executed without doing much. Cena and Paul Heyman in promo battles would be a highlight any day of the week.

Cena with this "Hustle, Loyalty, Respect" persona against the nature conservationist, Daniel Bryan, will make for an entertaining battle of wits.

A brilliant story heading to WrestleMania is always a major selling point for WWE.

#2 The Roman factor

Cena said to Roman, 'I am here because you can't do your job!'

Roman Reigns main-evented WrestleMania 31, 32, 33, and 34. There were rumours of a Shield Triple Threat at WrestleMania 35 for the Universal Championship before Roman Reings left WWE in October, vacating the Universal Championship.

Imagine trying to create a character to replace your Hollywood bound superstar for over five years, and then he has to unfortunately leave the company. WWE was stuck in a limbo once Reigns left, as there was no central figure left on RAW.

WWE has always had a focal point. Cena, Rock, Austin, Hogan, etc, were presented as the top guys of the company. However, in Roman's absence there is apparently no one who can claim that spot.

WWE could turn back to Cena, the former 'top guy'. Cena can still deliver and carry the company on his back for a few months, till the promotion finds an alternative.

#1 The elusive 17th world title

John Cena is currently tied on 16 world championships with Ric Flair. He has the perfect opportunity to win his elusive 17th title this year at WrestleMania. Cena won his 16th title in 2017, losing it just three weeks later to Bray Wyatt.

Cena winning the Rumble and facing a superstar who he has never defeated (Bryan) for his 17th World Championship reign, or facing a superstar who humiliated him (Brock Lesnar), will be a fantastic way to give Cena his championship.

A Rumble win will also put Cena ahead of the likes of Triple H, Randy Orton, etc, and tie him for most Rumble wins (3), alongside Stone Cold Steve Austin. Cena previously won the annual 30-man match-up in 2008 and 2013, going on to win the WWE Championship on both occasions.
