Goldberg has made his intentions clear. He wants to go after the WWE Universal Championship. Goldberg chose Royal Rumble as the path to reach his goal, but rather than entering the Rumble and trying to beat 29 other men, WWE could just book Goldberg vs. Kevin Owens for the title at Rumble.
While this might not sound like a good idea on paper, it excels on different levels. First of all, Owens comes under mainstream attention. He needs such a big feud badly due to a list of reasons. Secondly, WWE could reignite the Goldberg – Lesnar feud during such a match.
All Lesnar has to do is to interfere in the Owens – Goldberg match and let Owens walk away with the win. This way, WWE could set up Goldberg vs. Lesnar III for WrestleMania, while Owens could defend his title against someone else.
