– Alberto Del Rio made a sensational return at Hell in a Cell beating John Cena clean for the United States Championship.
Since breaking up with Zeb Colter, Del Rio has been hovering around main event status with the newly formed faction – The League of Nations. Del Rio, who had successfully defended his title for months, lost it to the high flying luchador Kalisto and won it back.
Del Rio finally dropped the title back to Kalisto at the Royal Rumble and also featured in the Royal Rumble match. Del Rio was suplexed by Brock Lesnar and has hence suffered a back injury.
There has not been any timeline as for how long Del Rio will be out, but it seems that the WWE injury cloud has rained upon him. WWE put former WWE World Heavyweight Champion – the Miz, as Del Rio’s replacement during a show in Chattanooga where he faced Kalisto and was defeated.
It is believed that the WWE are set to replace Del Rio with the Miz during the upcoming episodes of RAW and Smackdown. It seems the A-lister might get into a feud with Kalisto with the United States title being on the line.
The Miz might be a talented enough replacement but the fans would love to see someone like AJ Styles or Sami Zayn to go for the title against the high-flying Kalisto.
