What's the story?

At the conclusion of Jason Jordan's match with John Cena during this week's episode of RAW, Roman Reigns came down to the ring and confronted him for a repeat of last-week's promo battle. Dave Meltzer from Wrestling Observer had a very interesting take on the situation.

He believed that this was a promo designed to get Reigns over, after Cena clearly got the upper hand last week, during their verbal duel. Here is the video of the two men roasting one another.

In case you didn't know...

Roman Reigns and John Cena are all set to collide in a dream match at No Mercy. As a prelude to their big fight, the two men confronted one another during last week's episode of RAW, and Cena clearly got the better of that exchange, making him seem like the clear favourite, leading into the match. This week's exchange was a lot more even.

The heart of the matter

Dave Meltzer had an interesting take on the second Cena-Reigns verbal battle, and here is the transcription:

You know you could see on this one, that he was going right on the script and John Cena was going right on the script. And they knew what happened last week and they knew John Cena got the better of him. And it was very clear that it was designed for Roman Reigns to get the better of John Cena and get the last laugh in.

Meltzer maintained that he felt that Roman was much better this week. However, he joked about it being the longest a promoter has gone without turning a performer heel, despite the negative response that Reigns gets.

What's next?

As we inch closer to the big fight, we imagine that the promos will only get more intense and more personal. What a treat for wrestling fans.

Author's take

This week was nowhere close to the craziness of last week's promo. At the same time, it was still entertaining. I can't wait to see what next week brings. This feels like a big fight, and I'm in for the ride. The clash should be awe inspiring.
