Getting Ready To Rumble: Predicting Becky Lynch's 2019 Royal Rumble

The Man. The myth The legend.
The Man. The myth The legend.

Becky Lynch is arguably the hottest superstar in the entire company, in terms of momentum. She is almost certainly on a collision course to a match with 'Rowdy' Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 35. That much will be a featured part of the show. Already, there is talk that it may main event.

This is a far cry from last year's WrestleMania. Becky was an insignificant part of the pre-show women's battle royal. A winning streak, a heel-turn, and complete character overhaul later, Becky Lynch is a two-time Smackdown Women's Champion and one of the hottest stars in all of wrestling.

Her take-no-prisoners, leather jacket wearing, bad-a## 'The Man' character has been an absolute revelation. Be it her epic Twitter take-downs, straight fire insults, or just the way she struts around like she owns the place; fans have been lapping up everything she does.

Becky Lynch's immediate future is bright. However, before her showdown with 'Rowdy' Ronda Rousey, she must contend with the present.

She has a Smackdown Women's championship match against Asuka at the 2019 Royal Rumble. So how does she get from there to Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 35?

Let's find out.

#4 Becky Lynch Loses To Asuka

Becky is ready for Asuka...but it isn't enough
Becky is ready for Asuka...but it isn't enough

Becky Lynch versus Asuka is going to be a helluva match. They are both incredibly talented, incredibly charismatic, and incredibly over. If I were booking the card, this match would open the show. The incredible action and emotionally invested crowd would set up the rest of the show nicely.

However, there must be a winner, and there must be a loser. And in this particular case, Becky Lynch must be the loser. She must lose this match so that she can move on to Ronda Rousey.

So after a very hard fought, back and forth match, Asuka will emerge victorious. Daniel Bryan was as over as ever after losing to Bray Wyatt at the 2014 Royal Rumble. Asuka has enough aura about her that it is believable that she was able to barely eke out a win against Becky Lynch.

Having Ronda Rousey interfere is not an option; the WWE will want to keep her babyface. Furthermore, winning due to outside interference hurts Asuka's babyface credibility.

However, if the WWE really wants to protect Becky Lynch in a loss, they will lay out the match in such a way that she injures herself on the ring post, barricade, or on the floor outside. That gives a reason for her defeat, whilst keeping Asuka strong. This allows both babyfaces to look strong.

#3 Becky Lynch Is Interviewed Backstage

Down, but not out
Down, but not out

Even before she adopted the persona of 'The Man', Becky Lynch was one of the most beloved babyfaces in the entire WWE. She has always had this innate ability to get the audience to invest in her, to believe in her, and to cheer her on. She connects with the audience like nobody else, apart from peak 'Yes! Movement' Daniel Bryan. The audience empathizes with her and almost wills her to do well.

An important reason for this is her promo ability. That is what the WWE needs to tap into.

At some point in the show, Becky Lynch will give a backstage interview. She will acknowledge that she left everything in the ring, that she got knocked down, but has gotten right back up. She will be part 'The Man' and part 'true-blue babyface Becky'. She will also physically sell her injuries from the match and acknowledge that she is not 100%.

At the end of the interview, Becky Lynch will assure everyone that her night has only begun and that she is just getting started.

#2 Becky Lynch Enters The Women's Royal Rumble Match

Out of luck

After her promo, the crowd will expect to see Becky Lynch compete in the women's Royal Rumble match; the main-event of the evening. They will likely spend most of the match chanting for her, just like they did for Daniel Bryan in 2014. That is all right-this is Becky Lynch's story. Crucially, unlike Daniel Bryan in 2014, she will actually be in the match.

When the buzzer begins to count down to number 29 the crowd will expect Becky Lynch; remember, Carmella has already been announced as the number 30th entry. When Becky Lynch does not appear, the crowd will go crazy.

Then, at the peak of their anger, when number 30 hits, Carmella will saunter out, only to be attacked by Becky Lynch from behind. Becky Lynch will enter the Royal Rumble match in Carmella's place. The crowd will go crazy but in a good way.

When The Man comes around
When The Man comes around

Becky Lynch has entered the 2019 women's Royal Rumble match, and the crowd is firmly behind her. Because she is the last entrant, there likely won't be more than 7 or 8 superstars in the ring.

Two of those superstars absolutely will be Nia Jax and Charlotte Flair.

After rushing to the ring, Becky Lynch goes on an offensive flurry. However, her injuries begin to catch up with her, and she is stopped in her tracks.

She will play babyface in peril for a bit. All the while the crowd will be firmly in her corner, chanting 'Becky! Becky! Becky!'

After a suitable amount of time, Becky Lynch will mount her babyface comeback. She will first pummel Nia Jax, before eliminating her. This allows her to take revenge for Nia Jax breaking her face before Survivor Series last year.

The last two women in the ring will be Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch. After incredible back-and-forth action, Becky Lynch will eliminate Charlotte Flair, winning the 2019 women's Royal Rumble match.
