WWE Survivor Series is a professional wrestling pay-per-view produced under the WWE banner. The PPV is usually held in November. The Survivor series was created by Vince McMahon in 1987. After WWE WrestleMania, WWE Survivor Series is the second longest running pay-per-view event in history of professional wrestling. Survivor Series together with WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, and SummerSlam become the 'Big Four' WWE (then WWF) pay-per-views.
After the success of WrestleMania III, Vince McMahon created the concept of the first Survivor Series which was held in 1987. The main event of the first edition of Survivor Series was between Hulk Hogan and André the Giant. Originally Survivor Series became a "Thanksgiving tradition" with the first eight Survivor Series events taking place on either Thanksgiving Day (1987–1990) or Thanksgiving Eve (1991–1994). Since 1995 Survivor Series has been held on the Sunday before Thanksgiving (except for the 2005 and 2006 events, which again, were held after Thanksgiving).
