WWE News: Jinder Mahal's coach talks his physical transformation and current relationship

Jinder Mahal has the look of a champion

What's the story?

The man who initially trained Jinder Mahal knows The Modern Day Maharaja pretty well. Rick Titan, formerly "Fake Razor Ramone" recently discussed Mahal's impressive physical transformation and his current relationship with the WWE Champion on The Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestling.

"Fake Razor Ramone" was "Fake Diesel"'s former tag team partner. And just a reminder that Fake Diesel happens to be none other than the legendary Kane!

The backstory

Jinder Mahal might be The Modern Day Maharaja and sitting on top of the SmackDown Live roster as WWE Champion, but there was once a day when he started training like everyone else. When that day came for Jinder he found himself at the Martial Arts Fitness Center in Calgary, Alberta, training with Rick Bognar.

Bognar goes by Rick Titan now but fans might know him better as the Fake Razor Ramon. But Jinder Mahal will always know him as his first pro wrestling coach.

The heart of the matter

Rick Titan recently spoke to the Two Man Powertrip where he described Mahal's amazing change in physique. Titan said he recently saw Jinder at Mahal's brother's wedding and was astonished to discover how Mahal doesn't even look like the same person anymore.

"I saw [Jinder Mahal] a couple weeks ago but maybe I would have liked to have said it but it kinda popped in my head afterward. With the abs, the serratus, the thick wide shoulders and the V-shape he's got, with the legs that are sticking out of that tiny waist of his I'd say he's in better shape than I was in my best shape [...] I grabbed him by the arm to say 'hey man, let's take a photo' and his arms are like freaking boulders, river rocks man -- holy crap! This guy is unbelievable."

Although Mahal might be busy on the road with WWE and keeping in amazing physical shape, Rick Titan said he still maintains a pretty close relationship with Jinder's father. Titan told a story about when he saw Mahal's father during a portion of Jinder's career before his WWE hiatus when Jinder wasn't too sure about his future in pro wrestling.

"I talked to [Jinder Mahal's] dad briefly and he's I don't know maybe 15-20 years older than me but somehow we kinda kept in touch either by Facebook or sometimes by phone and we went and had some great East Indian food together and he said 'yeah [Jinder's] not really happy right now and he didn't know what to do' and I said tell him he can call me anytime. [..] Where when you're done with that business it feels like your whole life is caving in. Not to mention that but you're making a lot of money and then all of a sudden you're not making almost any money anymore, that's tough."

Titan also spoke about how he was always there for Jinder even when it wasn't socially acceptable to ask for help due to WWE's "tough as nails" culture.

"There's also a tough as nails edge you have to have to be one of the top guys, to be a World Heavyweight Champion and you don't go around expressing your feelings a lot, that's just the way it is. Him and I had some nice chats but there wasn't anything deep going on, you know what I mean?"

Although he seems to sound modest about it, Rick Titan may have really been the man who salvaged Jinder Mahal's career when he had lost hope!

What's next?

Jinder Mahal is turning out to be the WWE Champion who could. He had a lot of people doubting his abilities to hold down the top spot on WWE's blue brand but in time he proved his doubters wrong. Whether he keeps his title for ever or loses it tomorrow, Jinder has been able to more than solidify his spot on top of WWE's roster with his impressive championship run.

Author's take

There aren't a lot of stories like Jinder Mahal's then again, The Modern Day Maharaja is a unique individual. He continues to impress with his promos and obviously has Vince McMahon's approval. Hopefully, he'll be able to hold his title but with people like Shinsuke Nakamura chomping at his heels, Jinder and The Singh Brothers need to come up with a foolproof game plan.
