WWE Rumours: Lesnar was not the first choice as Dean Ambrose's WrestleMania 32 opponent

Dean was supposed to face the first undisputed WWE Champion at WrestleMania 32

WWE officials pen down WrestleMania plans as early as possible and then proceed accordingly. Most of the time, they are successful in delivering an awesome build up for WrestleMania. But this year, it was different, as several orignial plans for the biggest event of the year had to be scrapped due to many wrestlers getting injured.

Triple H vs Seth Rollins, John Cena vs The Undertaker were some of those scrapped plans. Brock Lesnar was scheduled to face Bray Wyatt, whereas it was decided that Dean Ambrose will fight Chris Jericho. The plan of Bray versus Brock was changed as several fans wanted to witness the Lunatic fringe square off against the Beast Incarnate.

Cagesideseats.com has revealed that WWE officials felt that a dominating performance against the Beast would project Ambrose as one of the top fighters in the company. They felt that a loss to Lesnar would accomplish more than a victory over Y2J. A possible Wyatt family interference, would have protected Dean despite losing. As we all witnessed, Lesnar mostly dominated Ambrose in their WrestleMania bout and in a short time picked up the victory, actually making Dean look ‘weak’. Whereas, a win over Jericho would have made him much more relevant in the roster again.
