WWE News: Jim Cornette gets into Twitter war with Gabe Sapolsky over recent firing

Jim Cornette is credited as being one of the best managers in pro wrestling history

This year, the working relationship between WWE and EVOLVE has been very positive. With the WWE acquiring several talents from the company such as Johnny Gargano and, just recently, Tony Nese, Evolve has become a great source for new talent to get scouted by the WWE.

With additions such as the Cruiserweight Division, which has now been expanded to have a stand-alone show named “205 Live”, there is much more opportunity for talent in Evolve to earn a spot on the WWE roster.

This weekend, there has been a cavalcade of news regarding former WWE and ECW announcer Joey Styles being released from Evolve as a result of a political comment that he made. Joey Styles, in an interview, referred to Donald Trump’s controversial comments which were made during a private Access Hollywood conversation that was leaked.

To protect EVOLVE’s reputation for the sake of maintaining sponsors and their relationship with WWE, Sapolsky decided to cut ties with Styles.

Apparently, this did not sit well with former WWE agent Jim Cornette, as he was quick to voice his opinion on Twitter. Cornette commented:

Sapolsky was also quick to defend his stance, responding to Cornette’s comment.

As of now, it does not look like there will be any relations anytime soon between Styles and Evolve. Hopefully, this relationship gets mended soon and Styles returns after the storm surrounding his comments has subsided.

In all fairness, from a business standpoint, it shouldn’t be difficult to understand why Sapolsky would make this kind of a decision to protect his company.

With the positive direction that EVOLVE are moving in with the WWE, the decision to let Styles go seems best for the time being. With all the legendary experience that Styles has acquired, not being able to get a job as a commentator should be the least of his worries.
