Paul Heyman wants 'Rowdy' Rousey in his ring

Monday night Raw is nothing new for UFC women's bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey as she watches the show every Monday. She even does scripted spots at her gym and knows how those things go and leads a group of training partners who have named themselves after a legendary stable. It just seems natural to presume that, Ronda ‘Rowdy’ Rousey would be a good fit in the squared ring too. And why not! She has all the qualities. Even Pro-wrestling innovator Paul Heyman was of similar thought.

In an interview with Fox Sports, Paul Heyman said, "Ronda would be great in WWE, especially as a Paul Heyman girl."

Exactly what she feels about this line, well we don’t know. Rousey is pretty busy at the moment. Just recently, she defended her title against Alexis Davis last month at UFC 175. Without taking a breather, she’s jumped into her next project and is now promoting "The Expendables 3," her first major film role and surely not her last. Within next year, "Entourage" and "Fast and Furious 7", both of which she has worked on will premiere and then there's "The Athena Project," a film in which Rousey is lined up to be the main star.

However, even with so much being on her plate, it has not been said that Rousey is not interested in one day doing something with the WWE. In fact, she has always left that option open on the possibility that it might actually happen one day. Rousey had told us many times that she would be agree for an appearance if the event included her friends and fellow fighters Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir; all of whom are all huge pro-wrestling fans.

The female champion also has other WWE connections that go back a few years. Her nickname "Rowdy" is taken from fellow judoka "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. It was given to her by her mentor, "Judo" Gene Lebell, who also trained Piper, along with Rousey. Rousey is friends as well as a great admirer of CM Punk and in June, even in social media she keeps in contact with Superstars like Roman Reigns on Twitter.

Well one person who’d surely be happy with Rousey coming to the WWE would be Paul Heyman. Heyman said last week, on "The MMA Hour" with Ariel Helwani that he believes Rousey is the biggest star in the pay-per-view world right now, even bigger than Floyd Mayweather. Rousey is "the new Mike Tyson," Heyman added. Heyman, who is the on-air manager of another former UFC heavyweight champion, Brock Lesnar in the WWE, said, "She just has it all going for he. She's remarkably sponsorable."

Paul Heyman knows a thing or two about promotions. His Extreme Championship Wrestling product did so well in the 1990s and he is respected all over for his work, on and off camera in the NWA, WCW and now WWE. So when he’s talking about Rousey, it's not just mindless banter. Heyman knows what he is talking about and understands what sells. He even added that if he were to be the promoter for one MMA fighter in pro wrestling, like he is for Lesnar, it would be Rousey.

Paul Heyman said that Ronda understands the shelf life that she would both enjoy and ultimately suffer. He said that she's constantly upping her game, never complacent and never satisfied with her performance. And on top of all this, she knows there are people right now that are studying her to the very details to learn her weakness and take away the title she has earned. Heyman added that Ronda is aware of the fact that her last fight was great, but for the next fight she better be even more qualified, because everybody is studying her and looking for any opening they can find to stop her momentum and become the person in her spot.

Those are qualities that could also allow her to transition to pro wrestling, which is far harder than most people understand. Heyman believes she has the right attitude for pro-wrestling. He believes her to be a star by her own right, who shows appreciation and passion for the industry and has unlimited potential.
