The Royal Rumble event will comprise of two Royal Rumble matches; one for the men and the other for the women.

While WWE has increased the number of women competing in the company since the past decade, and has a lot of talent who can compete in the 30-woman match, the men’s roster is overflowing with deserving superstars who should get a chance in the 30-man match.

WWE usually makes an effort to include some stars of the past and some surprising and interesting entrants into the match to make it more enjoyable and unpredictable.

Other times we have seen superstars debut in Royal Rumble matches and make a great impact, which gives them an instant push for what lies ahead.

Therefore, it is essential that WWE finds a perfect mix of superstars who compete in the 30-man match which can only be won by one superstar in the end.

Keeping that in mind, we have come up with a list of 4 men who should not be made a part of the Royal Rumble match this year. Take a look at the superstars below and share which superstar you don’t want to see compete at the Rumble in the comments section below.

#4 Lio Rush

Lio Rush should only be there as the hype man

Lio Rush is currently competing on the 205 Live brand, and working as the manager and mouthpiece of Bobby Lashley to great effect.

Lio Rush is an energetic, high flying, and impressive wrestler who deserves all the success WWE can afford him on the cruiserweight division. However, he shouldn’t be made a part of the men’s Royal Rumble match.

Since he is managing Bobby Lashley, it will be very predictable to see him team up with Lashley to stay in the match and not get eliminated. This could hamper Lashley’s chances and could lead to his elimination in a bad way.

The only reason WWE will think of adding Rush to the match will be to have him do some jumping around and try to avoid getting eliminated in unique ways. Kofi Kingston has already been doing that task for years now, and it is best that’s left to him for another year.

Therefore, it is better if Lio Rush is kept away from the Royal Rumble match, and someone from NXT is given a spot instead.

#3 The Great Khali

The Great Khali served WWE well during the late 2000s, and did enough to increase the international viewership for the company.

As soon as the decade ended, so did Khali's popularity and impact on the main roster, as WWE made him more of a joke rather than a real monster because of the existence of Kane and the Big Show, who were already playing the main monster roles.

Khali has been used a lot in Royal Rumble matches by the WWE, but has never been impressive enough to seem like a real threat even when effecting a number of eliminations. His time is up now, and he should hang up his boots rather than return for another Royal Rumble event.

Khali last returned for the Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia where he entered at Number 45 and was eliminated by Braun Strowman and Bobby Lashley in about thirty seconds. This showed that he was mainly included to push the position of Strowman and Lashley further as the new monsters in WWE.

Returning for another Royal Rumble event won’t do much for the superstar or the company, and would simply deprive a deserving superstar a spot in the match.

#2 R-Truth

R-Truth should say goodbye to his #30 spot

R-Truth earned his place in the match by winning the mixed match challenge alongside Carmella at the TLC pay-per-view in 2018. Not only did he earn a spot in the match, but has been awarded the prestigious #30 entry into the match.

While the spot is one of the most important ones in the match and one of the best-guarded secrets of the company, giving it away to a superstar who is unlikely to win the match seems fishy already.

While R-Truth has served the company for decades and has been one of the best wrestlers in the company, giving the #30 spot to him is not the right thing to do.

Instead, expect him to lose his spot to a returning superstar such as Kevin Owens, Bray Wyatt, or Sami Zayn in an assault before he can enter the ring.

R-Truth has competed in a number of Royal Rumble matches and has entertained us well for decades, but now is the time the superstar takes a step back for other rising superstars.

#1 Lars Sullivan

WWE should not push Lars into the Royal Rumble match
WWE should not push Lars into the Royal Rumble match

The surprise entry on the list is none other than the Freak of NXT, Lars Sullivan.

Lars signed with NXT as his first wrestling promotion, and has been competing on the developmental brand for some time. He was given a call-up to the main roster last year but hasn’t been seen on television yet.

While there are many conflicting reports on why that has been the case, while other NXT call-ups have shown up in some way or the other, he was supposed to be introduced as the new brutal force on the main roster.

If the same remains the case, then he should not be made a part of the Royal Rumble match unless he has been penned to win the match.

The reason is simple; he hasn’t done anything of significance on the main roster yet, and if he debuts in the match, then his impact will be decreased whenever he is eliminated from the match.

His push should be over the top, and getting eliminated from the Rumble match even if he makes record eliminations himself will surely dent his impact, and make his arrival not so memorable.
