Top 5 Feuds for the WWE Women's Division

Lana knocks Paige to the mat repeatedly with roundhouse kicks during her in-ring debut.
Lana thinks she let Paige live after this kick

The main roster may have missed a huge deal with the ‘Divas Revolution’ but at WrestleMania it managed to take a giant leap. It stopped using the much vilified term ‘Diva’ for female performers (even though there is much to ponder when Beyonce defines a Diva as a ‘female word for a hustler’, a word that may be pre-conditioned as other things in history). But that move signalled that WWE is willing to move ahead with this new crop of female talent, viewing them as wrestlers, something beyond eye candy.

A new design for the women’s championship was introduced and we got probably the best women’s match in WrestleMania history.

Here are the 5 new feuds for the Women’s division -

  1. Lana Vs Paige

Lana may be ever so green to begin with as a wrestler and Paige may just be the most lost performer in the burgeoning Women’s division but this is what both have in common - they have some great presence, they can be quite intimidating characters.

One thing that should give rise to this feud is Lana’s recent interview with wwe.com. She had some determined words for her wrestling career and some scathing ones for Paige. She says that the one mistake she made in her team’s loss at Mania was that she let Paige live after delivering those vicious kicks.

These two can certainly work a promo. And if you’ve got the drama part right, you’ve got yourself a good deal. Stephanie McMahon is no in-ring technician; she’s still been part of some of the best women’s matches in history.

  1. Sasha Banks vs Asuka
Though it took a valiant Bayley to pass out, Asuka captured her first NXT Women's Championship, and the world's attention.
Asuka vs Sasha Banks can be an interesting feud.

Asuka’s taken the Women’s division in NXT by storm with many a vicious kick. She’s a force to be reckoned with. She beat the ever-adorable fan favorite Bayley to become the new NXT Women’s Champion.

But what can happen when she meets a not so adorable, not so cheerful, trash talking boss like Sasha Banks? Sparks will fly. There is a really good potential story unravelling between these two performers who boast of brutal tactics of their own. Both have submissions for finishers and both of them are possibly the best female wrestlers on the roster.

  1. Emma vs Becky Lynch

Emma and Lynch have had an interesting program going lately

This feud has already been kick-started. They’ve been after each other through promos backstage and this may finally lead up to the ring soon enough. The most intriguing thing about this feud is one thing - character.

Becky Lynch is a charming, endearing babyface while Emma has rid herself of all the cheerful naiveté she once had to portray a dark, egoistical superstar highly determined and seemingly enlightened after her first main roster run.

The key should be for both these characters to grow with this feud and to get across what makes them good and evil, babyface and heel. And it’s in tandem with having more feuds other than the championship struggle in the Women’s division.

2. Sasha Banks Vs Bayley

Historic rivalry

Well, the feud that created history in NXT should definitely play out on the main roster and though Bayley is nowhere near being on Raw yet as she is still most needed in NXT, this will take time.

That’s why the wait is all the more worth it. The pair had two high profile matches in NXT for the Women’s championship. So when Sasha Banks does win the title from Charlotte on the main roster, you know that Bayley should be just around the corner trying to bring another gripping storyline between these two great rivals.

  1. Emma vs Paige
Old Rivals

Now that Emma is back on the main roster with more intrigue than what her previous stint had, there is no better moment to think about the potential this new, dark, villainous character holds.

Paige has beaten Emma clean many times over but Emma in her new avatar got her first victory over Paige on the main roster on RAW . These two were quite instrumental back in NXT for revitalizing the Women’s division even before the Four Horsewomen did. They can definitely start a feud to bring back some more relevance to Paige’s character that has been quite lost for some time.
