The reports of King Barrett leaving the WWE this Summer took the IWC by shock a few weeks back and the reason for the same was attributed to his stagnant position on the WWE roster. Considering the lack of direction he has and the sheer disregard from the WWE Creative, it may be what’s best for the British native.
It seems many WWE talents backstage aren’t pleased with Barrett for the huge news leaking way too early. Soon after the news broke out, Ryback took to Twitter and cracked a joke on Barrett’s WWE status, calling dibs on his moves once he leaves.
The stars backstage are reportedly upset over Barrett leaving due to creative reasons – something that most of the mid-carders are suffering from. They haven’t complained and are optimistic about what the future holds. Barrett’s contract expires somewhere around SummerSlam and post that, he may go back to the indies in the U.S. or U.K.
While Barrett’s situation validates an exit from the WWE, he’s still in a better position than some of the other unlucky talents who are languishing at the bottom of the card with minimal TV time. Barrett would certainly be a main roster star in any indy promotion, but WWE, unfortunately, is a whole different ball game.
