WWE News: Brock Lesnar enters the Royal Rumble

Paul Heyman battled tears as he named Lesnar as a Royal Rumble participant

Last week, Goldberg addressed the WWE Universe and announced himself as the first participant in the 2017 Royal Rumble. This was on the heels of him shocking the world by pinning Brock Lesnar in 1 minute, 26 seconds at Survivor Series.

Viewers across the world were curious about the reaction from Brock Lesnar’s camp, in the aftermath of the massive upset. This week on Raw, Brock Lesnar’s advocate Paul Heyman joined Michael Cole for a sit-down interview. The first since the historic defeat at Survivor Series.

In a move that sent shockwaves through the WWE Universe and across social media, Paul Heyman said that if Goldberg was in the Royal Rumble, Brock Lesnar would be in the Royal Rumble as well! Watch an ‘emotional’ Paul Heyman deliver the announcement in the video below:

Paul Heyman displayed an emotional side of himself that fans are not used to seeing when he said the following:

‘We thought that this would have been the easiest pay day of Brock’s career. And right out of the gate, Goldberg spears Brock and cracks Brock's ribs. And from there it’s fait accompli. You can’t breathe... you can’t fight’.

Paul Heyman had a dangerous warning for the WWE Universe, considering that for the first time in his career, Brock Lesnar had something to prove:

‘(Brock Lesnar’s) dealt with losses before. He’s been through ups and through downs. But this? This is embarrassing. And it has put Brock Lesnar in the mindset that he has something to prove. Which scares me. Think about what a Brock Lesnar with something to prove is going to be capable of. I don't think we’ve ever seen this side of Brock Lesnar before.’

Paul Heyman admitted that he was embarrassed by the match’s result

The 30th edition of the Royal Rumble pay-per-view takes place at the historic Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas on January 29th, 2017. Traditionally, 30 men compete in the Royal Rumble, coming out at two-minute intervals, in an over the top rope elimination contest, with the winner going on to challenge the WWE Champion in the main event at Wrestlemania.

Lesnar’s inclusion comes as no surprise since the 60000+ seater Alamodome would need big ticket names like the Beast Incarnate to sell out.

Lesnar is a previous Royal Rumble winner as well, having eliminated the Undertaker in 2003 to become the last man standing. At the time, he was the youngest man in history to win the coveted honour.
