WWE News: Eric Young inks NXT deal with WWE

NXT gets another TNA alumni!

36-year-old former TNA champion Eric Young has reportedly signed an NXT deal with the WWE according to a report from WrestlingNews.co. WWE is reportedly waiting for the right time to debut Young as a full-time NXT talent, with upcoming dates in Toronto (9/22) and St. Catharines (9/23), Canada making the most sense.

Formerly a member of Team Canada in TNA alongside Bobby Roode in his early days with the promotion, Young would transition into a more comedic babyface role in the company before becoming a top heel years later. Both Young and Roode would eventually leave the company after TNA had issues paying the two talented stars.

Young did, however, compete in a match with fellow TNA alumni Samoa Joe in NXT a few weeks ago, but he was not yet signed with the company. Now Young will get his opportunity to compete in the big leagues of professional wrestling, along with former TNA members Samoa Joe, Bobby Roode, and ‘The Phenomenal One’ AJ Styles.

The implementation of the NXT program in WWE has developed some of the biggest and brightest stars the organization has to offer today. With Superstars such as Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, and more having already made a huge impact on the company, the NXT program continues to flourish and show promise for the young stars of tomorrow.

With a proven commodity in Eric Young now joining its ranks, the possibilities are endless for the potential of these stars who enter NXT after having proven themselves in other upper-tier organizations or in the independent circuits. With Young having already shown that he can be the champion of an organization such as TNA, it may not be long before we see Young sporting the coveted NXT title around his waist.

What are your thoughts? Does young possess the necessary qualities to be a top star in the ranks of NXT? And could he potentially one day be billed as a top contender under the bright lights of the WWE’s main roster?
