WWE News: Final taping for Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic to happen this weekend at Los Angeles

The Second Annual Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic

The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic was a tremendous success last year. The tournament culminated at NXT Takeover: Respect when Finn Balor and Samoa Joe defeated the team of Rhyno and Baron Corbin to win the first annual edition of the tournament.

This year has seen a plethora of interesting team, making it almost unpredictable as to who will end up lifting the trophy. So far, there are two matches of the first round which are yet to be televised. However, in the tapings, all matches have been done except two 2nd round matches. These are the two matches that will presumably be taped in Los Angeles.

While we won’t mention the matches as we don’t want to give out spoilers, it is an extremely interesting bracket so far nonetheless. The great thing about the tournament is not just the fact that we get to witness a great tournament but also that we get to see the seeds of some incredible feuds.

For example, when Andrade “Cien” Almas and Cedric Alexander lost in the first round, there was a feud set up right there when Andrade turned on Cedric.

The second example is that of the “Glorious Ten” when Bobby Roode refused to help Tye Dillinger, in a beatdown that he was receiving in the hands of SAnitY, thus setting up a Takeover: Toronto match between them as well.

It is presumed that the Semi-Finals will take place at Takeover: Toronto as well. The semi-finals and finals took place last year in NXT Takeover: Respect. Since only four matches are set so far for Toronto, it is a rather easy way to fill the card and provide two great quality tag team matches.
