WWE News: Nikki Bella cleared for in-ring return, SummerSlam rumours

The lengthy injury lay-off may soon come to an end

2015, to the most part, was a historical year for Nikki Bella, who became the longest reigning Divas champion in history, with a reign of 301 days. Her historic reign came to end at the hands of Charlotte, who had been called up just 2 months prior to winning the championship. Nikki then continued her feud with Charlotte, and they had a rematch at Hell In A Cell which saw Charlotte successfully defend her title, thus ending their feud.

It was then reported that Nikki Bella had to take some time off due to a neck injury that would seemingly require surgery. She returned one night on Raw to accept the award for being the Diva Of The Year at the Slammy Awards. It was then revealed that Nikki’s in-ring career could be cut severely short, and at maximum, she could wrestle part-time. While this all was happening, Brie Bella was continuing a singles run, when she announced that she would retire after Wrestlemania 32.

Nikki too made a brief appearance at Wrestlemania 32 to celebrate the victory of her sister and their fellow Total Divas members. A month ago, Nikki Bella anxiously went to see if her doctor would clear her to start training again, and when she received the good news that she could, she headed to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando to train. She was and still is training with the likes of Bayley, among others.

Now, Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet revealed that Nikki Bella’s doctors have officially cleared her to return to the squared circle. There is no word at the moment as to which brand she will be in, or what her status is. It has been speculated that she will end up on the blue brand, Smackdown Live, because her boyfriend John Cena is there as well.

As mentioned, it was reported in march that Nikki could only come back on a part-time basis if her surgery was a success. It is being said that is still the case, and that the WWE medical staff have instructed her to take things slow upon her return.

This is great news to hear, as Nikki is said to have been working extremely hard to return. Even if it is on a part-time basis, she can help whichever brand she is in. It is being speculated that she might take the suspended Eva Marie’s place at Summerslam teaming with Natalya and Alexa Bliss against Becky Lynch, Carmella, and Naomi.

Are you looking forward to seeing the Fearless one return?
