WWE News: RVD reveals that he turned down a WWE return offer

RVD is the fifteenth triple crown champion of WWE

During a recent appearance at Buzzard Wrestling Podcast RVD revealed that WWE did offer him a deal back in October 2015 to join the team of Dudley Boyz to help them take on the Wyatt Family but he turned down the offer because according to him, the given money was not worth his time. He said:

“It wasn’t a real good time for me and that affected the dollar amount it would take to make it worth my while and that was the last talk we had. And that probably left an impression on them, which I’m totally fine with.”

It's notable here that during the last few months of 2015, The Dudley Boyz were feuding with The Wyatt Family but they were short on numbers due to Wyatts having four members in their stable in comparison to Dudley boyz’s two-man band.

So WWE thought of calling up two more WWE veterans to make things equal between the two teams and as RVD said, he was one of the stars who the officials reached out to at that time.

After RVD declined the offer to make a comeback, Tommy Dreamer, and Rhyno ended up being on the team, which took on the Wyatt Family in an 8 men tag team match at the TLC PPV.

Let’s go back to the last time he returned. When WWE announced the return of former ECW World Heavyweight Champion Rob Van Dam back in 2013 after being absent from WWE programming for more than 8 years, fans expected him to become a prominent star on WWE TV once again.

The officials also hoped him to reach the heights he was once at and as a result, RVD found himself competing for the Money In The Bank briefcase on his first night back in the company.

Despite the fact that the match was ultimately won by Randy Orton, RVD managed to steal the show, with the fans also seemingly behind the returning star hoping him to quickly gain some momentum and become a champion in the WWE once again.

However, things did not go as planned after that and while the former ECW star received a fair share of title opportunities during his 3 months long stint with the company, he was not able to regain the momentum he had during his return and failed to capture any gold.

After his release from the company, many believed that it was a missed opportunity and WWE should have given him more time on the roster, or at least should have re-signed him for another run with the company.

RVD, unfortunately, let the opportunity pass.
