WWE News: WWE confirms The Phenomenal One's return!

The Champ who runs the Camp is back!

Earlier today, WWE made an official announcement via Twitter, confirming the return of AJ Styles for the forthcoming SmackDown Live! from Washington, DC. His much-awaited return would see James Ellsworth finally getting his shot at the WWE World Championship.

The title match was originally scheduled for last week’s SmackDown, but an ankle injury suffered by Styles during his title match against Dean Ambrose at TLC resulted in the match being postponed. The injury happened when The Lunatic Fringe backdropped Styles' out of the ring.

However, the unfortunate incident did not derail the momentum of the Champ as he came out on top, albeit with a little help from the chinless wonder. While the injury was declared ‘minor’, WWE decided to write off The Phenomenal One from the storyline and pulled him out of all the live events that were scheduled for the past week.

Take a look at the promo WWE shared on Twitter for the forthcoming SmackDown Live!

Ever since he broke out onto the scene at Royal Rumble, Styles has been one of the most consistent performers for WWE. His debut came at a time when the WWE roster was crippled by a long list of injuries, and the company lacked the star power to headline their upcoming PPVs.

The Phenomenal One elevated himself from a previously assessed mid-card status and became a regular main eventer for the company. A major part of his success is directly attributable to his fitness levels, as Styles has managed to stay in top shape despite being 39 years old.

Despite a minor glitch that came at TLC, Styles is back to WWE television, much to the delight of his fans.
