WWE Roadblock 2016 updated match card

It will be Champion vs. Champion at Roadblock
Kevin Owens will defend his WWE Universal Championship against Roman Reigns at Roadblock

The upcoming RAW-exclusive pay-per-view, Roadblock, is scheduled to take place on 18th December 2016 at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The event has been advertised as “Roadblock: End of the Line” and the main event for this PPV was decided on Monday night RAW.

The show began with Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens talking on the Jericho-Highlight Reel, only to be interrupted by the United States Champion, Roman Reigns. Reigns challenged Kevin Owens for a match on RAW, and the stipulation was that if he beats Owens, he will earn a shot at the WWE Universal Championship.

The challenge was accepted by the Champion, and the match was made.

The match between these two was thus made; not just that, but the match was also made the main event for the Roadblock PPV. As also reported by Wrestling News Source, it is now official that Kevin Owens will defend his Universal Championship against Roman Reigns.

It is interesting that WWE went ahead with this decision despite Roman getting repeated boos from the WWE Universe. If Roman beats Owens at Roadblock, he will enter the record books as the first man to hold both the US title and the WWE Universal title at the same time.

Owens has been doing a good job as the Champion, currently enjoying a decent 87-day run with the title.

Owens became all the more interesting after his successful angle with Chris Jericho, and that is one factor you cannot ignore when speaking of the outcome of this match. It was earlier rumoured that Jericho would face Reigns and Owens would compete against Rollins in the upcoming PPVs, but you never know how things change in WWE.
