WWE Rumours: Backstage reaction to Brock Lesnar going off script to Heath Slater

Brock Lesnar went off script on Raw

This week, Monday Night Raw saw Heath Slater attempt to earn a spot on the WWE roster by going up against the Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar. Paul Heyman made an appearance along with his client at the final RAW before Summerslam to entertain the Corpus Christi crowd. However, before Heyman could really launch into his promo, he was intervened by the hottest free agent in sports entertainment today, Heath Slater.

Slater made his way on the entrance ramp and belittled Smackdown by saying that the people in charge over there wouldn’t know a talented WWE Superstar like him.

Heath Slater then told Paul Heyman that he wants to face his client Brock Lesnar to earn a Raw contract. Heyman and Lesnar laughed it off and tried to avoid him, however, the reluctant Slater continued to intervene during the promo.

Poor Slater entered the ring and talked about the importance of a new contract to support his kids, to which Lesnar reacted by saying that he doesn’t give a s**t about your kids. When Slater refused to walk away, the beast charged him with multiple suplexes and F5.

Now during the segment, Lesnar’s usage of the line S*** about (Slater’s) kids was not mentioned in the script, according to the latest wrestling observer newsletter. It’s interesting to note that Lesnar’s contract has certain provisions detailing what he can and cannot be punished for, and he has not been punished for the line.

Also, there has been an internal talk among the fans that WWE have been treating the superstars differently, with high stature Superstars getting more freedom than the lower ranked and mid-card stars.

To recall the instances, Brad Maddox was released after using the term "cocky pricks" in a dark segment at a Smackdown taping late last year. Joey styles was fired recently by the company over critical comments he made regarding the three-man commentary dynamic as well as the name of the new Universal Championship.

Superstars like Lesnar and Cena, have a much longer leash when it comes to abiding by any kind of script. Although the line popped the crowd, there is no doubt that around 80 percent of the locker room would have been fired by the WWE after a comment like that on live TV.

Lesnar has been in the headlines since he tested positive for estrogen blocker clomiphene in an out-of-competition drug test conducted by the US Anti-Doping Agency on June 28th. To react to the matter, WWE has stated earlier that the 38-year-old will not be facing any disciplinary action, as he is not a full-time employee.

The company recently suspended three performers Alberto Del Rio, Paige, and Eva Marie for violating the company’s wellness policy. Many believe that the policy is in full effect only for Superstars like Roman Reigns and Del Rio, and that Lesnar doesn’t belong to that category.
