WWE Top 5 Rumors of the Week and Analysis: 3 July, 2016

What got Roman suspended?

Just like every week, this time around also the rumor mill is buzzing with possible future happenings. With the Brand Split being the next ‘big’ thing for WWE, most of the rumors did revolve around the same. At the same time, there were mentions about a Hall of Famer potentially returning to the WWE after a controversial time out.

Kurt Angle and the chances of him returning to the WWE made it to the headlines as well alongside the things that Vince McMahon and Triple H are high on. Lastly, there were rumors about what made Roman Reigns fail the Wellness Policy tests. So here is a detailed look at all these rumors and how they might affect the whole WWE landscape.

Biggest rumors about Brand Split

Two titles?

As mentioned in the intro slide, brand split is the next ‘big’ thing for WWE and there were some major rumors about it. First of all, WWE recently dropped the ‘World Heavyweight’ part from the graphic that they made for Dean Ambrose which sparked the rumor about a second main event level championship coming up for the brand split.

This makes a lot of sense and calling the second title ‘World Heavyweight’ championship would be a safe move considering that WWE has already done it in the past.

Another rumor about the Brand Split mentioned about how WWE wants to have the women’s division. WWE might have two separate divisions for both SmackDown and Raw with talent from NXT getting call ups. There is no news on whether there will be two titles for the women or not.

Future of Kurt Angle

Controversial

The Internet has been speculating about the return of Kurt Angle for years now. Every time such rumors poke up, either Kurt or WWE shoots it down and most recently, it was WWE that shot down the concept. And apparently, they have a clear cut reason as well. WWE, at this point, does not want them to associate with anyone controversial.

Angle has a long running history of addictions and with the recent cases of Roman Reigns, Adam Rose, and Jerry Lawler, WWE is going extra conscious. This, however, could change in the future but with Angle aging the chances of him returning in a full-fledged role is unlikely.

Return of a legend

Legend set to return

We might not get to see Kurt Angle return anytime soon, but according to the rumor mills, WWE could bring back another legend: Hulk Hogan. If we call back, Hogan was erased (kind of) from WWE’s history after the whole scandal but Hogan later came out clean. He won himself a fortune thanks to his lawsuit against Gawker and he is still on ‘good terms’ with WWE.

Everything is going in Hogan’s way right now and all of this could culminate in a return as well. He is someone that WWE could use effectively during the brand split as Hogan is still fit enough to play an Authority figure on television.

What Vince McMahon and Triple H are high about

High on Breezango

The drift between the visions of Triple H and Vince McMahon is well evident from the way in which the main roster and NXT travels. The latest rumor on the internet further fuels this. Vince McMahon is currently high about the tag team of Tyler Breeze and Fandango. These two are not going to be split up during the Draft and Vince wants them to have a serious tone as well.

Meanwhile, Triple H is hell bound in getting Kota Ibushi to NXT. Ibushi will be participating in the Cruiserweight Classic and he is expected to get some strong booking. He, however, has not committed anything to WWE beyond that but Triple H wants to tie him down to a long deal.

What got Roman Reigns violate wellness policy?

Reigns failed due to amphetamines

Most WWE fans are still shocked about the fact that Roman Reigns is suspended for violating the wellness policy. Everyone wanted to know what made Reigns fail the test and apparently, we might have an answer.

Richard Gray at Wrestling News World is reporting that Reigns failed the tests as he was taking fat burners(amphetamines). The same is yet to be confirmed. As of now, Reigns is expected to be back for the Battleground main event but he will not regain the WWE championship. There was also another rumor on the internet which suggested that Reigns was forced to apologize in front of the WWE locker room.
