WWE Top Five Rumors of the Week and Analysis: 26 June, 2016

Ambrose to lose at Battleground?

It is a great time to be a WWE fan. The wrestling business is going through a transitional phase and WWE, in particular, is making a major shift thanks to the upcoming brand split. While it is a great time, it is also chaotic with all the rumors and speculations that are floating around. And due to the jump that Brock Lesnar recently made, the internet fan base has found new grounds to explore as well.

The rumors included the possible stars that WWE might call up ahead of the brand split, WWE wanting a new deal with a recently released star and much more. Here is a detailed look at all those top rumors.

Huge upcoming matches

Sasha to be in the title picture at SummerSlam

With all the talent that WWE has at their disposal these days, we are bound to see some exciting matches in the near future. One among that will likely be a huge bout between Charlotte and Sasha Banks. WWE is currently planning to book this match for SummerSlam and these two are likely to get some bright limelight on them.

Another match that WWE is planning right now will feature Shinsuke Nakamura and Samoa Joe. Joe and Nakamura are likely to face off for the NXT championship after Nakamura settles his business with Finn Balor. Nakamura, in turn, could spend some more time down in NXT as he could be winning the NXT title from Joe.

Returns of Randy Orton and The Miz

Return delayed

There were rumors about a potential return from Randy Orton recently but apparently, he will not return ahead of SummerSlam. The first advertised date for Randy is after SummerSlam and this is a huge blow for the fans who expected to see him ahead of the big show. Also, this means that Randy Orton would be missing the entire drafts during the brand split.

Another superstar who has been missing is the Miz. He is currently busy with the filming of Marine 5, but the Intercontinental champion is expected to be back by next week. He will be returning to the house shows by that time, but there is no news on when he will be back on television.

WWE wants new deal with Cody Rhodes

Will he sign?

The split between WWE and Cody Rhodes had made a lot of buzz in the wrestling business. After his departure from the company, Cody went on to make a wish list of the opponents that he wanted to face and ended up getting himself some mouthwatering matches for the coming months. WWE, who still owns the rights to the Stardust character, now wants to sign Cody to a legend’s deal so that they could sell merchandise under the Cody Rhodes banner.

Even if Cody signs this, don’t expect him to return to WWE as he seems to be enjoying his stay outside it. Also, Cody is trying to make it in the Hollywood and has been setting up meetings for the same.

NXT stars to get call up

Balor will arrive

The NXT call ups are almost sure to happen ahead of the upcoming brand split. WWE will need wrestlers to fill both the brands and the likely names to be called up down from NXT are Austin Aries, Finn Balor, American Alpha and Nia Jax. The call-up of Finn has been delayed for a long time and with the Club traveling in an entirely opposite direction; it would be interesting to see where Balor fits in.

American Alpha, on the other hand, has been exciting as a tag team. Austin Aries is perhaps the most interesting name from the lot. We all know what he is capable of and with the experience that he has, WWE will have trouble finding a proper storyline for him without making his fans cringe.

Ambrose to lose the title at Battleground

Just a transitional champion

Dean Ambrose made history by cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase at Money in the Bank. He did get hold of the WWE championship but according to the rumors that are going around, Ambrose is likely to drop the championship at Battleground where he will defend against Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. Ambrose dropping the title makes no sense whatsoever.

If Ambrose is indeed losing the title, Rollins is the favorite to win the title. Reigns will be fresh off his suspension and keeping the championship on Reigns will not give out a good message to the locker room. Battleground just got interesting right?
