Chelsea Transfer News: Hamburg sign two Chelsea players in 3 days

Jacopo Sala

Hamburg sporting director Frank Arnesen is continuing his raid on former club Chelsea. Just 3 days after announcing the signing of defender Mancienne, Hamburg have now snatched Chelsea’s 19 year old playmaker, Jacopo Sala, for an undisclosed fee on a permanent 3 year deal. Sala hasn’t featured in Chelsea’s first team but was an integral part of their 2010 FA Youth Cup winning team. The Italian was also a regular in the reserves.

Arnesen, who was director of football at Chelsea before joining Hamburg told HSV.de, “Jacopo is a player with a bright future. He has gone through all the youth national teams with Italy and has excellent physical properties and skill too.”

Sala, who joined Chelsea in 2007 expressed his delight on the move. “Playing for HSV is a great opportunity for me. It would be great for me, if possible, to develop quickly here and play with the first team, because this is a great club. Whether in Italy or England, HSV is known everywhere.”

Arnesen is expected to continue with signing Chelsea youngsters, either on loan or on permanent transfer. Promising centre-back Jeffrey Bruma has also been a topic of discussion between the two clubs and the Blues might consider sending the 19 year old on loan to the German club. Arensen said, “Jeffrey Bruma is on duty with the Netherlands actually. Afterwards we will meet and talk about it. We will look each other straight in the eye. We will decide what is best for Jeffrey Bruma and Hamburger SV.”

Another target is the fan favorite - Josh McEachran. However, the chances are slender that the 18 year old would go out on loan just yet.
