Can Chelsea roll back to the 4-3-3? (Part 2)

In the previous article, we considered Chelsea‘s options if they were to move away from the present 4-2-3-1 formation to another suitable formation. We went through 4-3-3 but does Chelsea have any more options other than that?

4-1-3-1-1 is another option. Thought its not the most conventional of formations, it can be pretty effective with the quality of players Chelsea have. Lets have a look once again !

Yes , I did put Moses right behind Torres but that will probably be his most effective spot. He is naturally a winger but can perform as a center forward as well. Torres was converted into an assist machine last year and if he switches places with Moses, you could actually see him opening Moses up !

Moreover by switching with Hazard and Mata he can take up the wings, where he naturally plays and Hazard and Mata can take the play making role, right behind Torres !

Now what if were to make it a bit more defensive?

In my opinion , the players that will perfectly fit in are

1- Cech

2- Cole

3- Terry

4-Cahill

5- Cesar

6- Mikel

7- Bertrand

8- Hazard

9 – Oscar/ Lampard/ Mata

10 – Moses/ Torres

11 – Torres/ Sturridge

With this kind of tactical movement, we can ensure a better defensive cover at the left and in the center , where we end up being the most vulnerable. Two attackers up front will help each other out in their own way .

Another way to look at it would be to replace Torres with Sturridge and then Moses with Torres. The reason why that could help as well , is because Torres can assist like we saw last season and even though Sturridge is trying to adapt into the right wing he can always be a lethal center forward. Selfish and always hungry for goals.

In the 3rd part , we will look at another vintage formation, that could work for Chelsea.
