AEW Summer Blockbuster 2025 is set to be an exciting affair. The much-awaited TV Special will feature back-to-back episodes of Dynamite and Collision, as Tony Khan's experiment with a four-hour-long weekly programming continues.

Some major developments could unfold during this upcoming event. All Elite Wrestling has announced several important matches and segments for Summer Blockbuster, which would likely affect the buildup to All In: Texas.

With top stars like MJF, Kenny Omega, Toni Storm, and many others set to appear on the Wednesday night show, Tony Khan would hope to make this four-hour-long TV Special memorable. In this article, let's look at three surprises Tony Khan can pull off at AEW Summer Blockbuster 2025.

#3. Mercedes Mone could help Julia Hart defeat Toni Storm

Mercedes Mone is set to challenge Toni Storm for the AEW Women's World Title at All In: Texas. The two women recently had a tense confrontation, where The Timeless Star forced The CEO to retreat.

The erstwhile Sasha Banks was at ringside during Toni Storm's recent tag team match against Julia Hart and Skye Blue at AEW Fyter Fest. The reigning TBS Champion could make her presence felt again when Storm locks horns with Julia at AEW Summer Blockbuster.

In a shocking turn of events, The CEO could decide to interfere in this contest, allowing The Princess of the Dark Throne to pin the reigning AEW Women's World Champion. Mone could attack Storm behind the referee's back, allowing Julia Hart to capitalize.

The incident would leave the Timeless Star infuriated. It would make things even more personal between the two stars. Toni Storm could ultimately return the favor to The CEO by costing her the TBS Title in one of her upcoming title defenses.

#2. MJF could attack Mistico at AEW Summer Blockbuster

One of CMLL's biggest stars, Mistico is set for a return to All Elite Wrestling at Summer Blockbuster 2025. The dynamic luchador is set to compete in a match during the four-hour-long TV Special, and a former World Champion will be keeping a close eye on his performance.

At AEW Fyter Fest, MJF made some surprising comments on Mistico's upcoming appearance in All Elite Wrestling. The Salt of the Earth disregarded the luchador's accomplishments, stating he was just a big fish in a small pond.

The Devil reminded the fans of his reign as the AEW American Champion, which led to him headlining a CMLL show in Arena Mexico. MJF said that he would assess Mistico's performance in his upcoming match on Summer Blockbuster, and if he finds him worthy, The Devil will battle the CMLL star at AEW Grand Slam: Mexico.

MJF does not seem too happy about The Prince of Silver and Gold competing in the Jacksonville-based promotion. The Salt of the Earth could launch a heinous assault on Mistico at AEW Summer Blockbuster, laying the seeds for their bout at Grand Slam.

Other babyfaces like Kevin Knight and Speedball Mike Bailey could attempt to rescue the masked superstar, only to be taken out by The Hurt Syndicate. Attacking CMLL's most recognized superstar would be a great way for MJF to generate heat heading into his match in Arena Mexico.

#1. Swerve Strickland could turn heel after losing to Will Ospreay

After failing to win the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, Will Ospreay has decided to assemble a babyface team to take down The Death Riders. The Aerial Assassin wants to bring Hangman Page and Swerve Strickland on the same page, but the two arch-rivals do not seem interested in that offer.

The Commonwealth Kingpin recently had a tense confrontation with The Realest One backstage on Dynamite, which led to a brawl between the two stars. Ospreay and Swerve are set to face each other at Summer Blockbuster 2025, nearly a year after their bout at Forbidden Door 2024.

The British Superstar could get even with The New Flavor by emerging victorious in this contest. After scoring a win over Swerve, Ospreay could try to convince the former World Champion for an alliance one more time.

However, Swerve Strickland could leave the crowd stunned by turning his back on The Aerial Assassin. The Killshot could brutalize the former International Champion, punishing him for handing him a defeat.

At the moment, Will Ospreay does not have an opponent for All In: Texas. Swerve Strickland could fill in that spot, becoming the perfect heel for Ospreay to overcome.

It would be an intriguing direction for the duo, as it would make things even more unpredictable heading into All In. It would help AEW avoid a Hangman-Swerve alliance, allowing the two stars to maintain their long-standing rivalry.

Meanwhile, it would put Swerve and Ospreay in a marquee spot at the Texas pay-per-view, where they could end up stealing the show.
