Malakai Black vs Cody Rhodes on AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam

Up next on AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam, Malakai Black faced Cody Rhodes. Cody was accompanied to the ring by Arn Anderson and Brandi Rhodes.

The match started with a single leg takedown from Cody Rhodes, but Malakai was back up almost immediately. Black dominated Cody in the opening stages, forcing the American Nightmare to roll out the ring. Brandi briefly got into the ring and distracted Black, giving Cody the chance to blindside him.

Cody then sent Black crashing out to the entrance ramp before hitting him with a springboard Disaster Kick.

Cody headed to the top rope, and Black caught him with a knee strike as he came down. Black had a kneebar locked in back in the ring, but Cody managed to reach the bottom rope. Black then took Cody down with a nasty looking kick across the chest.

Black then went for his patented spinning kick, but Cody blocked it, pushing the former WWE star back into the corner.

Black followed it up with the Meteora before finally connecting with the spinning kick. However, the momentum sent Cody crashing out of the ring.

Back in the ring, Cody hit Black with a chop block, trying to cut down his speed. Black then ended up missing a knee strike and hitting the turnbuckle. Cody followed it up with a Dragon Screw to the injured knee.

Cody went to hit the Cross Rhodes, but Black blocked it and tossed him across the ring. The match seemed like it was over after Cody hit a Cody Cutter, followed by the Cross Rhodes, but Black kicked out.

Cody then crashed into Arn Anderson, who was on the apron, sending him down to the floor. The brief distraction gave Black the opening he needed. When Cody was back in the ring, he spat some mist into Cody's eyes and rolled him up for the win on AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam.

Result: Malakai Black def. Cody Rhodes
