SCU (Scorpio Sky and Frankie Kazarian) started their reign as AEW World Tag Team Champions against the Lucha Brothers and Private Party retaining at Full Gear 2021.

The episode of Dynamite following Full Gear saw SCU face Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara with the titles on the line, where SCU retained, and on Dynamite two weeks later Scorpio Sky was unsuccessful in challenging Chris Jericho for the AEW World Championship.

SCU would again retain their belts in their defense against the Young Bucks, before eventually losing them to Kenny Omega and Adam Page and once again in a rematch. Not too long after their title loss, we started to see Scorpio Sky switch focus to his singles career, challenging Cody for the TNT Championship in an open challenge.

Sky and Kazarian would once more challenge for the belts when FTR held them, in a losing effort. At AEW Revolution 2021, Scorpio Sky won the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match for a shot at the TNT title, which came in a losing effort to Darby Allin.

Sky would turn heel by holding Allin in a submission and refusing to let go, further aligning with the incoming Ethan Page to form The Men of the Year. After they cost Darby Allin the TNT title with a savage attack, they looked to face Allin and his mentor Sting in a Street Fight at AEW Double or Nothing 2021, where they suffered their first defeat as a team.

Sky will team with Ethan Page, Andrei Arlovski, Junior Dos Santos and Dan Lambert against the Inner Circle at Full Gear 2021.

Sky's singles pursuits left Frankie Kazarian without a certain trajectory for a while, with his focus remaining on tag team success alongside long-time partner Christopher Daniels.

Together they would work their way through the AEW tag team rankings, wagering their future as a tag team together as motivation to succeed. Kazarian and Daniels made their eventual date with the AEW World Tag Team Champions, the Young Bucks, earlier this year on a May episode of Dynamite.

In defeat, the legendary tag team duo of Daniels and Kazarian, the Addiction, met their end in the title match and once again left Kazarian without a partner and a definitive trajectory. Kazarian has spent the time since his split from Daniels as the "Elite Hunter", focusing on a singles career and on/off feuding with the Elite.

The Lucha Brothers were unsuccessful in their attempt to become the inaugural AEW World Tag Team Champions against SCU before their shortcoming once again at Full Gear.

Heading into the match the Lucha Brothers were already House of Glory Tag Team Champions and AAA World Tag Team Champions and, as a result, hunted their third simultaenous title reign.

The Lucha Brothers were victorious in a December Dynamite clash against titleholders Adam Page and Kenny Omega, earning them a title shot against them in February where they once again failed to seal the deal.

The Lucha Brothers would align with PAC to form the trio of Death Triangle, with Fenix and Penta teaming with PAC separately to challenge for the AEW tag titles to no success. At All Out 2021, the Lucha Brothers faced the Young Bucks in a Steel Cage Match for the tag titles, where they would finally win the allusive belts.

They have been involved in feuds with Andrade alongside PAC, and now FTR as they were enlisted by Andrade to upset the Lucha Brothers for the AAA World Tag Team Championship; they head into Full Gear ready to defend once more against FTR, this time for their AEW tag titles.

Individually, Penta and Fenix were pitted against each other in the 2020 World Title Eliminator Tournament, with Fenix winning to advance to the next round. An injury forced Fenix to pull out and Penta was announced as his replacement for the match against eventual tournament winner Kenny Omega.

This was called back on when Fenix faced Omega for the AEW World Championship at New Year's Smash, in a losing effort. Penta teamed with Eddie Kingston earlier this year in a Street Fight for the AEW tag titles against the Young Bucks which they lost.

Private Party were unsuccessful in unseating SCU as champs at Full Gear, and would later lose in their challenge to the Lucha Brothers for the House of Glory Tag Team Championship in December 2019. They would challenge once again for the AEW tag titles, this time against Page and Omega, at Fyter Fest 2020 to fall short.

As part of the working relationship between AEW and Impact Wrestling we saw Private Party face and lose to Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson in a No Surrender 2021 Impact Tag Team Championship three-way also involving Chris Sabin and James Storm. They have done nothing of note as of late but their alignment with Matt Hardy and the HFO sees them regularly featured in feuds with Hardy's foes.
