AEW Revolution: 5 female wrestlers who could be the big surprise

Is Paul Wight set to bring a Hall of Fame worthy female wrestler to AEW?
Is Paul Wight set to bring a Hall of Fame worthy female wrestler to AEW?

AEW will take center stage this weekend when the company presents its first pay-per-view of the year, aptly titled Revolution. While the company has already announced a stacked card for the event, former WWE star The Big Show made his AEW debut as Paul Wight this past week on Dynamite and ensured that all eyes would be on Tony Khan's company this weekend.

The former WWE star made quite the impression when he announced that there would be a "Hall of Fame worthy" performer following him to AEW as part of Revolution.

While it has been implied that this superstar is male, it could be argued that at present, AEW's Women's Division is in need of someone who has already had a Hall of Fame level career to take control.

Many women on the circuit have been waiting for a chance to make their debut in a company like AEW and this Sunday could be their chance. Here are just five women who could make their debut alongside Paul Wight at AEW Revolution.

#5. Former WWE/IMPACT Wrestling star Tessa Blanchard could debut at AEW Revolution

Tessa Blanchard already has links to All Elite Wrestling, since her father Tully has been part of the company over the past few years. Blanchard has already torn down glass ceilings over in IMPACT Wrestling where she is a former World Champion and was at one time being pursued by WWE.

Blanchard has made several WWE appearances in the past but was never signed to a contract by the company and still awaits any kind of offer from WWE since her release from IMPACT Wrestling. Most recently, she has been linked with a move to All Elite Wrestling where she could link up with her Hall of Fame father. The note about the star being "Hall of Fame worthy" could be linked to her father and his illustrious career or to the fact that Blanchard has already proved her worth on the wrestling scene and could push AEW to a new level.

The former champion could bring something new and different to the women's division on Dynamite, and since this is the place where critics usually pull up faults, it's easy to believe that AEW is looking to bring in Blanchard at some point in the future either way.

#4. Former WWE Women's Champion Victoria could debut at AEW Revolution

A few months ago, Victoria wouldn't have been on AEW's radar, but the former WWE Women's Champion could have changed this line of thinking in recent weeks.

Victoria made her shocking return to WWE during the Royal Rumble back in January where she revealed that she was still in great physical condition. The former women's champion retired from the business before making her return to WWE and could have turned a few heads upon her return.

Victoria also had a successful career in IMPACT Wrestling where she was known as Tara, and while she hasn't been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, she has had a career that is worthy of such an honor. Victoria would also bring something unique to the AEW women's division with a veteran presence.

The Big Show and Victoria were both part of WWE at the same time and would have crossed paths on several different occasions, so the woman who made The Widow's Peak famous could easily be the newest AEW recruit.

#3. Former WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee could make her debut at AEW Revolution

While it's definitely a long shot, nothing is preventing AJ Lee from making her AEW debut this weekend at Revolution. The former Divas Champion retired from WWE almost six years ago and has since made it clear that she isn't prepared to make her return.

Lee has cut out quite the career for herself as an author and a writer, but since AEW offers less travel and could adapt to her schedule, Lee could possibly be persuaded to make her return to wrestling.

There has been a lot of talk about her husband, CM Punk, and the fact that he could be the name set to debut at Revolution, but sometimes fans forget that AJ Lee was once a force to be reckoned with in WWE.

It could be argued that AJ Lee was one of the women who kickstarted the women's revolution before it became a trend and has easily done enough in her short career to be seen as a future Hall of Famer.

Lee had a talent that many fans have never seen before, and if she was to make her return to the ring, then AEW could definitely benefit from her services.

#2. Former WWE Diva's Champion Kaitlyn could make her debut at AEW Revolution

Kaitlyn has returned to the wrestling business recently, and after a stint in WWE, the former Divas Champion could now be the woman heading to AEW.

Kaitlyn is perhaps best remembered as the winner of season three of NXT, which was the female-only season of the show. This later led to the star going on to join SmackDown and then being part of a feud alongside AJ Lee.

Kaitlyn had a bright future ahead of herself as a former Diva's Champion but requested her release back in 2014 for personal reasons. In the years that have followed, Kaitlyn has made her WWE return as part of the Mae Young Classic and has even wrestled on the independent circuit.

While her career hasn't been on the same level as many of the women on this list, she has the experience to bring something new to AEW and could make her career Hall of Fame worthy by the time she announces her retirement in a few years.

#1. Former WWE star Zelina Vega/Thea Trinidad could make her debut at AEW Revolution

One name that many fans are hoping will make the switch over to AEW is former WWE star Zelina Vega, who has since returned to her old ring name of Thea Trinidad.

The former WWE star was released from the company back in 2020 after some issues with WWE's new third-party policy and is now nearing the end of her 90-day no-compete clause. This means that the former IMPACT Wrestling star could head over to AEW and link up with several of her former friends, including Jon Moxley and Chris Jericho.

Trinidad's husband, Aleister Black, is still part of WWE but hasn't been seen on TV since October of last year, with the most recent update stating that WWE currently has nothing for Black.

While it could be argued that Vega hasn't had a "Hall of Fame worthy" career at this point, she is young enough to be able to turn her career around and make the AEW Women's Division stand out.
