One of the greatest to ever lace the boots, Sting is believed to be closer to his retirement. Speculations concerning his final opponent have been massive, in comes Chris Jericho to seemingly tease the blockbuster-dream match.

Both Jericho and Sting have carved out eye-widening careers in the pro-wrestling realm. The two legends have wrestled for almost every major promotion out there. While both stars have over sixty years of wrestling between them, it's surprising that they have never squared off against each other one-on-one.

Fans and veterans alike have been voicing their take on The Icon's last match for quite a while. However, a fan's recent tweet depicting a showdown between Sting and Jericho's Painmaker persona garnered the interest of The Ocho himself, who liked the post.

While "The Vigilante" has been a massive asset for AEW, it's been expected that his contract might expire before the end of 2023.

Veteran journalist believes Sting could retire at All In

AEW: ALL IN is believed to be the most prominent event for All Elite Wrestling this year. Given that the promotion stemmed from the very inaugural "All In" event in 2019, Tony Khan has his eyes set on making it a spectacle. It will be held at the legendary Wembley Stadium in London on August 27 this year.

According to veteran journalist Dave Meltzer, this event could be the perfect platform for the WCW legend to hang his boots. Here's what he said on Wrestling Observer Radio recently:

"To run a stadium this large, they have to do the most loaded show they’ve ever done. I’m talking about if it’s possible, Sting’s retirement should be the key to this thing. Wembley Stadium certainly is gigantic, so I don't know that that's gonna be it. But I think given he is going to be retiring before the end of the year, if you're going to do something, that may be the place to do it. That's probably the place to do it," said Meltzer.

It's worth noting that if Jericho is indeed Sting's final opponent, he will become the only performer to have wrestled every PWI #1 ranked wrestler.
